I'm just watching the 1 hour introduction to Rock Star: Supernova on Ch 8, but I don't get it, they picked some major Canadian cities, but what happened to Victoria? There'a a lot of talented people in this city that could do better then the people in Vancouver/Calgary/Toronto. Talk about a slap in the face. Anyhow, rant mode off!!! - Sun, 25 Jun 2006 10:09pm Edited: Sun, 25 Jun 2006 10:10pm

I could care less about the show, but I'm still wondering how they managed to get around the fact there there was a very well known indie band called Supernova playing throughout the 90's. - Sun, 25 Jun 2006 11:59pm

Yeah but couldn't Victoria people just take the ferry over to Vancouver if they wanted to try out? - Mon, 26 Jun 2006 7:29am

Good point, but couldn't the producers take the ferry over to Victoria/Nanaimo if they wanted to try people out?!? - Mon, 26 Jun 2006 10:28am Edited: Mon, 26 Jun 2006 10:28am

I guess so, but usually on Canadian programs they just target the big major cities, so those from smaller places have to travel. Isn't the show worldwide? So they would have to do alot of deciding for the many try outs they have.

I'm sure places like Montreal have lots of talent and they didn't go there either... plus the ferry and everything, just like most shows are in van. - Mon, 26 Jun 2006 10:43am Edited: Mon, 26 Jun 2006 10:43am

Good point. Then again, why do they always say that Jason Newstead is from Metallica, when he's actually from VoiVoid (or was...). Isn't the bassist from Suicidal Tendencies in Metallica?!? (Unless Jason is actually in Metallica again) - Mon, 26 Jun 2006 6:59pm Edited: Mon, 26 Jun 2006 6:59pm

O.K. Phil there are about a million Canadaian cities in Ontario bigger than Victoria but they all have to go to Toronto to try out..... and Jason Newstead is from Metallica. There would be a handful of people worldwide that knew who he was if it wasnt for him being in Metallica. As for the talented people in Victoria, theres talented people everywhere, so what, get off your ass and do something with that talent or it means nothing. If all you have to do is catch a ferry to Vancouver that aint bad at all. - Wed, 28 Jun 2006 8:20am

Hold it, but Jason Newstead is from Voivod, at least I thought he was. Am I missing something here? I mean, if there gonna say something, say he's from Metallica/VoiVod at least. - Tue, 11 Jul 2006 10:37am

no, Jason Newstead is originally from a band out of Arizona, named 'Flotsam & Jetsam', a long-ago h.s. friend of mine was asked to fill the spot.

He declined playing bass for ^^^ becuz, from what I remember him saying was, 'They're a 'going-nowhere' band.'
