| NOISE NOT BOMBS User Info... | Resistant Culture has cancelled, and it seams ISKRA has been kicked off the event on june 17. I had no say in this as I am just a promoter on theis event not an organizer. So there is no punk or metal bands envolved any more. The food will still be good, Joey will still be playing, the speakers will still have important stuff to say... But Both ISKRA and Resistant Culture are cancelled. | NOISE NOT BOMBS User Info... | Official Statement on June 17 The role of noise Not Bombs was of a promoter for the most part. Here is an explanation of the cancellations and mistakes as well as measure taken to prevent this bullshit again. Please forward this to any one who tries’s to talk shit. Cancellations occurred because :( as to the best of my knowledge from what I was told) First) El Vuh could not afford to come out as they had no tour, it would have cost about $1500, they could not cover it, the organizers could not cover it, and I could not cover it. Second) a miscommunication with iskra and resistant culture, about tour dates. Then resistant culture cancelled Third) Curtis Clearsky was told he would be fired if he did not work that day, and thus had to cancel Fourth) ISKRA was kicked off the bill by the collectives that were organizing this because they wanted to have a primarily indigenous performance, and ISKRA was not indigenous. They felt it would not make sense to have the headliner be the only metal/punk band, and also all white, at an anarcho indigenous gathering. Fifth) the collectives organizing this fell through on much of the organizing and communication (the black raven excluded), none of the hip hop groups were confirmed (nice of them to tell me) and all said they could not make it. Sixth) Joey Only would have remained the only musical act, and so they said fuck it and cancelled the music part all together. seventh) I received an e mail from iskra, saying they may want to play a punk show, so I set it up, but the venue was not for sure, we had no P.A.(it was cancelled as well), and iskra is pissed off and didn't really want to play. I received a second e mail from iskra this morning saying that they would not play here till probably October. This is out of my hands now and I wash my hands of all to do with these collectives that can not do their part. I am still going to put on shows as NNB but will not work with many of these groups again (at least not any time soon) except maybe the black raven, if they are willing/able/interested, who I will involve in my shows, as I support them, but I feel for now that Noise not Bombs will be only organizing with Noise Not Bombs, and all others may borrow venue spaces when we have them available, to do their own shit. Whether they do well or fail will be up to them, but will not be allowed to affect my job and duties to you, the scene, and the community. For now NNB is solo, until I feel that there are competent groups to work with. Food Not Bombs (which I am also a member of) was not in any way involved in the organizing of this event or of any NNB events. They were simply asked to do a serving, which they will still be doing as far as I am aware. I will continue to support FNB as a sister organization, as well as participate as a member/volunteer. FNB never is involved in these shows and will never be involved, it is a separate entity, with its own virtues and ideals, and mission. I do not speak for food not bombs, and in no way is Noise Not Bombs connected except that it shares some members, and that NNB was spawned from a FNB benefit show. Sorry for all the bullshit. I've heard conflicting information regarding this. If the money isn't given to charity, the names are false advertising, yo. | Lordpatch User Info... | this may sound a bit odd, however, may i suggest a solution? maybe the band can do something with one or more of the none white guys/girls on the invite list. you know like a collab thing and solidarity set which doesn't bring things down into 80's sectarian, caucus identity politicks? then maybe we can all learn something and exchange cultures and styles. after all, i'm sure natives like metal too, i hear even latinos and blacks do. just thinking outside the box is all.
