Lucius User Info... | Hi there. Does anyone use a compressor (rack or pedal) on their clean channel when playing? how about with the OD channel? Cheers Lucius - Sat, 18 Mar 2006 1:24pm Edited: Sat, 18 Mar 2006 1:26pm
Adam_Cynic User Info... | My compressor is always on live.. Tele with dual recto and boss CS-? = smooth and consistant. - Sun, 19 Mar 2006 1:39am Edited: Sun, 19 Mar 2006 1:41am
FLY ON THE WALL User Info... | and so is the auto-tune - Sun, 19 Mar 2006 8:59am Edited: Sun, 19 Mar 2006 9:00am
zakco User Info... | I use an MXR Dynacomp for some things live (especially slide), but for the most part I prefer the feel of playing without one. I find I fight the dynamics a bit with compression. It's like you give, but the amp doesn't give back....if that makes sense. With dirty tones I never use one. Distortion is by it very nature compressed already. Oh....Fly On The Wall...I give....what does autotune have to do with compression? Just wondering. -Z- - Sun, 19 Mar 2006 9:53am Edited: Sun, 19 Mar 2006 9:58am
FLY ON THE WALL User Info... | Nothing, it has to do with the armchair cynics. - Sun, 19 Mar 2006 10:27am Edited: Sun, 19 Mar 2006 10:27am
Kickback User Info... | I used to hate compression but since I've been recording alot I'm starting to see its upsides. It really helps smooth clean guitar work for a heavy handed player like me. I'm still not crazy about it on dirty tones live, but used sparingly in recording it's great. - Sun, 19 Mar 2006 2:02pm Edited: Sun, 19 Mar 2006 2:06pm
jackass User Info... | it was my experience with compression that when you don't have it you really notice how much you were relying on it - Mon, 20 Mar 2006 8:37am Edited: Mon, 20 Mar 2006 8:38am
Lucius User Info... | I used to have a little boss compressor but never got the hang of it. I used it to sustain my leads for the slow ballady type stuff and for when I was chicken picken! But I was never that into effects (I am now though). Cheers Lucius - Tue, 21 Mar 2006 10:00am Edited: Tue, 21 Mar 2006 10:02am
K.C. User Info... | compression and clean tone? I don't think anyone uses it ever, well except for Dickie Betts and David Gilmour. So I guess only if you want the best tone in the world. Oh and I agree with FOTW. I find autotune lets you avoid actually having to bend the notes the right amount, so you can focus on looking good for the crowd. k. - Wed, 22 Mar 2006 10:28am Edited: Wed, 22 Mar 2006 10:30am
