Yamaha Maple Absolute/Birch Absolute mix, and a Manu Katche kit from Yamaha also, for the smaller gigs.

I loves me some Yamaha. Much more consistant that my old Pearl Masters kit.

Paiste signature ride and crash, Zildjan K hihats and a Sabian China splash for colour.

I play a Yamaha maple absolute customs 8" 10" 12" 14" - toms
a variety of snares depending on my mood (Yamaha, DW, Gretch, pearl picollo, Tama, Ludwig, Ayotte)....bit of a snare collector. Tama Iron Cobra and Pearl quad beaters as a backup. Paiste cymbals. I had 6 signature series and broke em all within two years, i then bought all 2002 series and broke them within 3 years - fuck it's too expensive. I think i am going to purchase some shitty Sabian B8's until we find a singer or have to record/play live again.
I also use V-drums in my set up for extra fun ambience and sampled shit.

Also have a classic original 1969-71?? Ludwig kit. 15" 16" 18" toms with a 26" kick. It's a monster, a little shit kicked but sounds awesome and records even better. Anyone interested $1100 no dicker.

Anyway there's my rant. - Wed, 30 Nov 2005 4:40pm

I use one of those styrofoam kits you used to see at Kmart.
Stefano - those Ludwigs aren't by any chance brown, are they? (with those inconvenient-as-shit tom mounts that require a sprocket wrench to adjust). - Wed, 30 Nov 2005 5:43pm

Hey Curmudgeon Rocker,
no they are white, but yes they did come with those inconvenient-as-shit tom mounts that require a sprocket wrench to adjust, but i purchased a brand new Ludwig ball joint mounting system - didn't want the hassle. Although i kept the original pieces for those purists out there. - Wed, 30 Nov 2005 11:56pm

hey jay..cool you play 15" hats as well. I think you're the only other drumer i've heard of that plays w/ 15's and not 14's or the standard SoCal punk way of 13's. My 15" rock hats are the heaviest ive ever played with. i've had my eye on that paragon ride as well..love to know what your thoughts are on it after you've played it for a bit. i like to ride the bell more and the paragon seems to be well suited for that..cheers - Thu, 1 Dec 2005 5:04pm

After reading all that i think it's time to go rack up the ol' account at Long and Mcquade.
I play a TAMA Rockstar, got me one of them fun poppy firecracker snares by Pearl, my fav newest cymbals are the 15 and 17 inch Zildjian custom A series crashes, they sound so good together. I use a DW4000 pedal and have 2 back up pearl ones, ya know just in case.
I want more though, who doesn't?
May have to do a little personal xmas shopping on my lunch break today ;) - Wed, 14 Dec 2005 9:32am
