Hey man 7 could be interesting ,down tune 1 or 2 steps(if you dare) on the 7th string with a heavier gauge E and set the rest of the 6 at a 1/2 or full step and the possibilities are endless, your choice of real heavy bottom end and the same set up as you like in a instant ! - Tue, 28 Jun 2005 7:35pm

XY- You make a good point. Probably, in time I will check a 7 stringer out. For now I am really into my six strings tuned down to C# and B.

Nik- You play a 4 string at B? - Tue, 28 Jun 2005 8:07pm

Keith Richards on his guitar style: "Two fingers, five strings, and one asshole."

He plays tuned to an open E with the bottom string removed. - Wed, 29 Jun 2005 8:53am

I recently purchased a 7 string and have been using it almost exclusively since. Because the neck is much wider, it does take some time to get used to. I think that is why you can pick one up for such reasonable prices on ebay. Some players just never feel comfortable playing that wide neck. However, the plus side is that you don't have to down tune a 6 string to play in B. - Wed, 29 Jun 2005 10:05am

i sure do play a four string at B! the string itself is huge and took some getting used to, but its better than having spaghetti strings. - Wed, 29 Jun 2005 11:36am
