_Griphin_ User Info... | I've been trying to get webspace from Shaw for over 4 days now, still waiting. - Fri, 15 Apr 2005 6:37pm
lonemonk User Info... | Shaw only gives out 10MB of space per account. Thats about 10 minutes of 128Kbps MP3. One of the longer People's War songs wouldn't even fit into it. Not sure who is giving 'free' space away these days. Problem with 'easyspace' and places like that is the total avalanche of pop-up ads that come along with it. - Mon, 18 Apr 2005 11:52am
_Griphin_ User Info... | Strange, I thought they gave out 70 megs of webspace. I wonder where I read/saw that. You sure about how big the files are? I think only 5 of the songs off the No War rls were over 10 megs, and they were encoded at 256 kbps, 44.1 kHz. BTW: It took me 5 days to get my webspace back up and running because there system thought I had a webpage even though my account was cancelled last year when I was in hospital. - Mon, 18 Apr 2005 12:11pm
Soap Dodger User Info... | Shaw gives you 10MB for each email address you setup, not each customer account. I think you can have up to 7 email addresses per account. For hosting audio files Purevolume, Myspace, and Newmusic Canada all let you setup an artist profile and upload songs. - Mon, 18 Apr 2005 12:41pm
lonemonk User Info... | The songs we published on livevic were not on the CD release. Roughly speaking the MP3 files I uploaded were about 1MByte per minute. 44.1/16b CD audio of course is 10MB per minute, so thats not much of an option for the web. Thanks soap dodger, I forgot they offered more than one address per account. How atypical of Shaw to have fewer limits than I suspect, usually it's the other way around. - Wed, 20 Apr 2005 8:36am
mica User Info... | try http://www.uberlabel.com they give you 50 MB and they don't barrage you with ads. - Wed, 20 Apr 2005 9:21am
Dave Slaughter User Info... | hey, thanks man! - Wed, 20 Apr 2005 9:44am
_Griphin_ User Info... | Ah... if they were 1 meg per minute they were at 128 kbps 44.1 kHz (I think). Was there only 1 CD (2 CDs :) release, or did the band release another CD before? - Wed, 20 Apr 2005 9:45am
ML7Mike User Info... | http://www.powweb.com is about $10 cdn. per mnth but they give you 2gb of space and 5gb per day of bandwidth.. - Wed, 20 Apr 2005 12:41pm
Brumy User Info... | shaw gives unlimited ammount of space...you only get 70mb of bandwith..my dad works for shaw so i went in to work with him one day and one of his co workers explaned it all to me. you can buy bandwith for real cheap but you have to go to the shaw building and ask for it. - Wed, 20 Apr 2005 10:02pm
lonemonk User Info... | Only No War But The People's War is released so far. We're working on a rather large second release which is 90% completed, it'll be out later this year. - Thu, 21 Apr 2005 8:37am
_Griphin_ User Info... | Yeah on http://www.shaw.ca I read the following: As a subscriber, you get up to 70 MB of available disk space, so you can publish photos, your resume, family tree, or whatever you want the world to see. There's a new People's War CD coming out? Cool. It seems like everyone's band is releasing a CD this year. And I found that on: http://www.shaw.ca/en-ca/CustomerCare/ManageMyAccount/Manage+My+WebSpace.htm. So that explains that. - Thu, 21 Apr 2005 3:42pm
Brumy User Info... | well then that needs to be changed, because i had a website and i put about 300mp3s on my site cause i was wiping it, and cause i wanted to get my friends to dl them, and i had a bunch of videos well over a gig of stuff on there..and it all worked. So its gotta be wrong - Tue, 26 Apr 2005 7:15am
