rickylong User Info... | Whewww. I just got off the phone with an old punk from Vic, Terri B, she was just braggin to me about how she and her husband just went to the Vancouver Compilation CD release party!!! Live Dishrags, Subhumans, Rude Norton, DOA etc.... man that would have been somethin else! Those where the best days back when we used to go see Wimpy beltout and kik at everyone in the OAP hall! anyway the mighty DICK MANITOBA reviewed the above show for any who are interested. http://punkhistorycanada.ca/portal/forum/viewtopic.php?t=774&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=60&sid=bb4fd94ab39dfc1f604c6e9fa5d4aff2 -rickylong - Tue, 22 Feb 2005 8:28pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | I was gonna post about this comp., but I see someone else did. It's a great compilation, and there are a few Dishrags songs I haven't heard in a long time ("I Don't Love You" being the one I somehow remember, bizarre). Definately worth getting if you wanna hear songs you haven't heard in awhile. - Tue, 22 Feb 2005 9:11pm
brad User Info... | I've got it on vinyl. Its a great comp, I love a lot of those early Vancouver bands. Young Canadians (k-tels), DOA, Dishrags, Pointed Sticks etc.. I can't beleive I missed this show.....fuck. - Tue, 22 Feb 2005 10:44pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Ummm.... but The Dishrags were the first punk band out of Victoria. - Wed, 23 Feb 2005 8:25am
rickylong User Info... | yes the Dishrags where from Central Sannich originally but you can imagine the state of the mainstream music scene in Victoria back then.... They had to go to Vancouver where the shit was goin down! I'm so glad these bands broke the stale music scene of the 70's... they made rock acsessable again.. put some energy back into it. Punk brought it back to the ground level! I do have documentation of the Dishrags and DOA playing at the Dominion hall in Esquimalt in oct 1978... For those wondering about the Victoria Underground music documentation... 1978-84. its still being plugged away on. we have another lay-out artist so we will see how this progresses now... it's a great project but alot of work! 100 page book complimented with two CDs of music. 48 bands of music, gig posters, biographys, photos, and more. Be patient... i know its been a long haul with big hybernation periods. -rickylong - Wed, 23 Feb 2005 5:40pm
davescene User Info... | How is Terry B? I haven't seen her in over 10 years and wish her well. Say hi from little Dave! One of my favorite gigs from back then was when we played with DOA at OAP Dec 94. Joey and gang were a riot. Their favorite drink at the time? 4-litre plastic milk jugs filled with Tequila and Pink Grapefruit juice - they shared freely! - Thu, 24 Feb 2005 4:22pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Yeah, I too will be interested in getting that once it's released. - Thu, 24 Feb 2005 4:27pm
