When I was getting re-aquainted with my local demo collection, it had occured to me to ask what you thought were the best local demos released over the last 15+ years. So here goes my sad attempt at what ruled.

Red Tide-Outta My Way Demo 83
This rules, nuff said.

Left of Center-Hard Times Demo 93
I can never grow bored listening to this, I just wish I had a chance to see the band. They even cover Genetic Control's "Urban Cowboy" (which I also have the EP of).

Severance-Demo 92
I used to work with Dave Hughes at one of the restaurant jobs I had, and he gave me both the Severance demos as well as Left of Center demo. I used to run into Dave quite a lot, but haven't seen him since the assault.

Demonation-Demonation EP
Awesome demo!

DreadNaut-Deliverance Demo
One of my favorite metal acts (I've only heard 1 song from Armoros). Jake who was in this band now plays punk in The Remanes, go figure. ;)

I will listen to anything, but one of my favorite local demo tapes was AK-47 first recording. I think I wore that tape out shouting along to Re-Education camp #9. I also really like the stuff that wrought Iron smile was putting out. I only ever got one of their discs but I was in awe of that band everytime I saw them. The SPOCK tape was also a good one. - Sat, 19 Feb 2005 4:19pm

Deranged - Premonitory Nightmares

came out sometime in the very early 90's I think. Years ahead of its time, hands down one of the best metal acts to ever grace this city.

Damn I should rip this tape..

I have the Jonas demo too :D - Sat, 19 Feb 2005 9:00pm

Yeah, thanks for reminding me, I completely fergot who I was chatting with about that demo. Hopefully you got all those CDs burned, I've seen one of them actually.

Speaking of Armoros, I ran into the guy who wrote Remember Michelle at the 5th street during one of my Ale binges, that was cool. Wow, lots of demos I don't have already mentioned.

That's wierd Kruzty, I thought Dave moved back from Australia. So you drummed for both LoC and Severance?!? Yeah that's awesome work!!! I managed to find the second Left of Center demo, wow there's a huge difference between the first and second demos. BTW: Does anyone have any of the Mission of Christ demos recorded?!? I think I'm missing a few of them. - Sun, 20 Feb 2005 9:50am

Yeah I used to be a HUGE fan of Red Tide, right around the time there last demo was released (wish I still had it), but I managed to find "Where Sea Meets Sky" from it. I'm always on the hunt for more of there demos. Mission of Christ were a cool band, and I managed to find the "Silence in Grave" and "Demo 89" thanks to Jason Flowers. Two very cool demos, I can see how so many people really liked this band. - Fri, 4 Mar 2005 11:57am
