_Griphin_ User Info... | OK, sorry if I seem clueless, but who was Mieszko Talarczyk anyways?!? - Fri, 18 Feb 2005 9:31am
ML7Mike User Info... | he sang for Swedish metal band Nasum. Not so well known here, but huge in their homeland. Their singer was a victim of the Tsunami. And only a few weeks before they were scheduled to play the Swedish version of the grammy's. Sweden seems to be a country that recognizes the musical merit of their metal, unlike Canada or the US who choose to ignore it or mis-represent it with crap.. Sorry, off-topic rant. - Fri, 18 Feb 2005 10:28am

canon.docre User Info... | "he sang for Swedish metal band Nasum. Not so well known here, but huge in their homeland." Mike, Nasum are on relapse. Not so well known here? They're fvxing huge in the scope of blasting hardcore/grind in North America. - Sat, 19 Feb 2005 10:07am
Mordock.the.Benzite User Info... | Mieszko also was in Krigshot(vox) and Genocide SS(guitar+vox)...as well as recording and producing many bands at his Soundlab studio in Sweden (including Regurgitate, Rotten Sound, Exhumed etc). His contributions to the world of extreme music are vast...and anyone with even a passing interest in grindcore has almost definately heard the name Nasum. - Sat, 19 Feb 2005 11:14am
ML7Mike User Info... | Canon, Here in North America Relapse isnt exactly in the limelight. YOU know who they are, I know who they are as do a select crowd of people who follow that scene. But many 'metal heads' have never even heard of Nasum. ( especialy those who dont go online to look for bands ) In Sweden they are on TV etc. alot more in the public eye. You didnt hear CNN or CBC talking about him when they mentioned all the other famous people lost in the Tsunami, yet in Sweden Im under the impression that his passing is actualy considered a big deal by the press. After all, when 'Grammy' players die only weeks before their appearance, it makes an impression. Its like alot of bands. Aside from the ( and I hate this word ) 'elite few' most metal heads in North America probably think metal died when Dimebag got shot. This is why had Nasum ever played Vancouver, maybe a few hundred would have turned out vs. say a Fear Factory or a Slayer type band who draw 1000's there. Blame the NA industry who do not properly recognize metal and the atypical fans who dont explore deeper than what the industry throws in their face. And having a 'Relapse Records' tag on a band name is meaningless to many as well. There's a small Relapse band coming in March on a Monday. Lets see if there are more than 3 dozen attendees. The End have played here how many times, yet they still only draw 100 or so people. I think the only Canadian industry player who actualy recognize 'metal' are the Canadian Indy Music Awards, who think hardcore is metal, and the heaviest band theyve ever had play their Toronto 'awards ceremony' were Alexisonfire or 3IOB. - Sat, 19 Feb 2005 11:55am
Livevic Scott User Info... | Burried Inside, Relapse Records, playing here March 21st @ Lucky Bar w/ Kincaide + Desensitized.... They're REALLY good, sora melodic stoner type rythems, and killer screaming vocals mixed with a rather large range of other instrumentation.. Its pretty cool the whole album really flows together nicely! I think alot of people could really get into this band as they're not quite metal but they're pretty heavy! I would almost discribe part of their sound to be similar to screamo however there never have that shitty part in the song thats trying to appeal to your girlfriend. The band also have deep indie rock roots having put out their first record on Canada's Matlock Records (home to North of America, The Plan, and Math rock legends Weights and Measures) Anyway check them out as I think its gonna be a great show!! - Sat, 19 Feb 2005 1:01pm
