Laprider User Info... | Well first I'm old and second I've always used macs. anyway my friend gave me a PC for my cabin. Its not bad, I want to record to it, no real heavy tracking just stereo mics for songwriting...whats my best option for a soundcard? I'll probably run Pro logic as a program - Wed, 16 Feb 2005 11:12am
Gman User Info... | You want to record 2 stereo inputs, or a single stereo input? If just a single stereo input, any SoundBlaster card is fine if you go into a preamp, then into the Line In. If you're looking for 4 inputs (2 stereo), check the MAudio Delta 66 - you can actually find them selling here from time to time and L&M carry them. Lemme know how that goes, S - I'm freelancing the computer scene these days and would be glad to help out if you need it, eh? G - Wed, 16 Feb 2005 11:36am
laprider User Info... | thanx G, lets go for a beer sometime - Wed, 16 Feb 2005 1:10pm
Brendan User Info... | You should also check out the Digidesign MBox. It's a little pricier, but it has 2 Focusrite pres on it, whereas the delta has no pres at all. It's the only piece you need, besides the mics, and it comes with pro tools. I think it's coming down to $499. - Thu, 17 Feb 2005 10:49am
laprider User Info... | Thanx all....I only want to use this for songwriting....I have a pro tools rig already so wouldn't spend 500 on an M box....I find the pre's in those more suited to rock stuff anyways. I'll just go something cheap. one nuemann tlm is all I'll ever be plugging into it. cheers - Thu, 17 Feb 2005 11:03am
Shaggy User Info... | Steve, pretty sure I have a soundblaster live platinum sitting around that's not being used. Has an input/output addon that you put in one of the 5.5" bays on the comp. You can have it for a couple doobies bud. Shoot me an email if interested. - Thu, 17 Feb 2005 11:08am
Laprider User Info... | what is a doobie, hey Shag...I don't have a clue what you said, but sure...don't you know that crusties like me don't speaker computer. Hey I'm going on tour stopping in Regina, staying at Colin Sands moms..haha - Thu, 17 Feb 2005 11:14am
Shaggy User Info... | OMG..LOL Is Colin still in that rathole? What's a doobie? Dude :D The SB Live Platinum has all the digita/ analog input/output on the breakout box that goes in the 5.5" bay on the front of the computer. I'll even install it for ya :D P.S. Just sent ya an email w/contact info bud :) - Thu, 17 Feb 2005 12:27pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Well I've recorded a ton of demos over to computer with the soundblaster (single walkman connection), I had to go to Radio Shack and pick up a plug (walkman (female) to 2 RCA plugins (male)) and I use WaveLab rather then ProTools, seems to work fine for me. - Thu, 17 Feb 2005 12:44pm
JOE90 User Info... | For what you want to do, and given that you'll be using a PC, start with M-Audio stuff. Good, relatively cheap soundcards, some with mic pres built in. - Thu, 3 Mar 2005 2:39pm
