Lucius User Info... | This was taken when he was 18 or something like that. Pretty cool. http://www.eternalrandyrhoads.com/ZWZYRIS.mpg - Wed, 1 Dec 2004 1:30pm
Mutilashawn User Info... | but such an asshole! - Wed, 1 Dec 2004 3:24pm
lonemonk User Info... | That's just plain-ass masturbation to my ears. I might have dug it when I was 18, now it bores the snot out of me. - Wed, 1 Dec 2004 3:51pm
Curmudgeon Rocker User Info... | Apparently Jordan salivated whenever he saw the target body at L&M. Almost as iconic as Jimmy's sunburst or Eddie's red w/white tape (well, maybe not that far). I'll take the dude in the link over Z.W. - Wed, 1 Dec 2004 5:16pm
[+} User Info... | i think that IS Zakk Wylde in the link. - Wed, 1 Dec 2004 8:18pm
Curmudgeon Rocker User Info... | Sorry - I meant the TITLE of the link. - Wed, 1 Dec 2004 10:15pm
Dave Slaughter User Info... | holy shit - Thu, 2 Dec 2004 12:32am
Lucius User Info... | Yes it is wanking but just think he was 16 when he started playing. In this tape he is only 18! I wish I could play half that good after only 2 years. Shit I can't play that good now and Ive been playing for 14 years or so. - Thu, 2 Dec 2004 9:17am
lonemonk User Info... | I'll easily admit that my playing is not that polished, but even if I could play exactly like that, I most certainly would not. Its dull, boring and omnipresent. If I was forced to copy someones playing for the rest of my days it would be Frank Zappa. (Or maybe Les Paul) At least then there would be no lack of unique and truly inspiring approaches to the guitar and its manipulation. There are still an infinite number of interesting guitar riffs out there; Might even be some that haven't been heard. Anyway, you're right. He has talent, but it always is a shame to see it go to waste. - Thu, 2 Dec 2004 11:17am
Lucius User Info... | "Anyway, you're right. He has talent, but it always is a shame to see it go to waste." I respect and agree with your opinion, but how is Zakks talent going to waste? He is one of the few guitar players that can actually make a decent living with it. Plus, he has one of the most recognizable playing styles and is responsible for many people picking up the instrument. No matter the motives ro what you think of his cartoonish persona, anyone who can make someone play guitar is pretty cool in my books. Cheers Lucius - Thu, 2 Dec 2004 12:02pm
lonemonk User Info... | I hope you're right on all those fronts. If he is able to make a decent living at it and is able to persuade people to the joys of playing music, then thats impressive enough. You've brought up the one point that I can admire and indeed be jealous of.... - Thu, 2 Dec 2004 12:55pm
Pierce User Info... | He doesn't make a decent living. He makes fukin millions. Endorsements, OZZY, Black Label Society, his endless studio contracts. I think it is frikkin wikkid to be able to play that at 18. However, any skilled guitarist can do that. Just probably not at 18. - Thu, 2 Dec 2004 3:35pm
anti-blue-up User Info... | I've always thought that Zakk Wylde is what happens when someone who is not naturally musical becomes very, very good at playing a musical instrument. He is amazing to watch for the technicality of his playing but there's something soulless about it. - Mon, 6 Dec 2004 12:10am
Kickback User Info... | Well lately his solos have become redundant but alot of his stuff from the about 1996 and earlier on albums like No Rest for the Wicked, No More Tears, Pride and Glory, Book of Shadows were really great technically and musically too. Even Sonic Brew had some cool shit on it. Now he just seems like a guy who is burned out from being told what to do all the time. Case in point listen to how restricted he is on Down to Earth then listen to how he really wanted to play the riffs on Live at Budokan. And about it being souless and not musical do a search for the acoustic version of Stillborn. - Mon, 6 Dec 2004 2:28pm
