josh User Info... | Ive got a 200 watt fender deluxe 112 and i was wondering how I could hook it up too a another a single 12 inch or a 2x12 and what would that would acomplish as far as the sound goes. do i need any specail equipment? there are a couple things like a pre amp in and power amp out or something to that effect. thanks alot - Mon, 15 Nov 2004 11:08pm
cooper User Info... | Well, to start out with, I don't think that amp is 200 watts. I'm fairly certain it's 65watts, but back to your original question. Because this amp doesn't have a dedicated speaker out jack, I don't think you'll be able to hook up a speaker cabinet. I had a very similar amp to this one back in the day and what I did to get a fuller sound is slaving another amp(s) using the effects loop (Preamp Out & Poweramp In). What you'll need is another amp though, so it's best to steal one from your best friend or kindly ask permission from your school music teacher and explain to her that of course you'll be using it for school-related activities and that you'll be very careful not to blow the speakers. Take a patch cable from the Preamp Out jack and connect it to either the Power Amp In jack of the other amp, or the Input jack of the other amp. This will achieve two different results. The first method (preamp to power amp) will result in the 2nd amp being a 'slave', meaning it's really just a powered speaker. I will sound just like your other amp. Using the 2nd method (preamp to input), you'll be able to tweak the 2nd amp to your liking, changing the EQ or overdrive, etc. This way you'll get two different sounding amps. Choose whichever one you think sounds best. Now, if you have lots of friends and they all have amps, connect them all together! - Tue, 16 Nov 2004 10:52am
josh User Info... | thanks alot man, that helps alot and yeah it says 200 watts on the back of the amp, so unless its wrong then it has 200 watts. - Tue, 16 Nov 2004 6:56pm
cooper User Info... | The 200 watts doesn't refer to the output of the amp. I had a similar amp and it said the same thing, but right there in the manual it said it was 65W. - Tue, 16 Nov 2004 8:47pm
other josh User Info... | The 200W refers to how much power it DRAWS from the AC plug. 65W is how much of that power it delivers to the speaker - Tue, 16 Nov 2004 11:42pm
