james User Info... | I was wonderin - if I have two amps that I want to run at the same time, should I get a slave or an a/b box. what are the pros and cons of both? I've heard that with the slave i can have my pedals through the effects of the first amp and they will also be heard through the second amp, but with an a/b box is this not possible? Is it possible to get the pedals going through both amps with an a/b setup, (and only one of my pedals has stereo outputs) any tips or info would be appreciated! - Thu, 28 Oct 2004 12:36pm
[+} User Info... | an a/b box simply splits your mono (guitar) signal into to mono signals. perhaps you are talking about using stereo effects (ie. flange, delay, chorus, etc.)... you would then need to have pedals with stereo inputs and outputs to hear them in true stereo. delays sound great if you split them between two different sounding amps. but i'd go with an A/B box if you want to hear your effects through both amps. - Thu, 28 Oct 2004 1:16pm
james User Info... | thanks man, i think the a/b is what i'll go for. - Thu, 28 Oct 2004 6:11pm
woolly User Info... | make sure you plug all your gear into the same ac outlet(power bar)or you will have some nasty buzz.maby even the shock of your life.my amp lit on fire before i figured this out. - Mon, 1 Nov 2004 11:37am
Kickback User Info... | ya thats a great point! I've been shocked a few times from that. If you pick up a power conditioner it'll take the hum outta any bad circuit. Oh and James if you go with the A/B then you wont be getting a stereo image at all, it'll just be a mono feed into 2 heads. But you will have the ability to switch from head to head (which is good if you're running two separate eq, volume or gain settings on each). If you have something like a stereo Chorus pedal and run the outputs into the 2 amps then you'll get your stereo image. Personally i'd go with the stereo setup rather than the A/B stuff, but that's just cuz i'm a tube amp guy and rarely use clean sounds live. - Mon, 1 Nov 2004 1:31pm
james User Info... | hmm interesting, I do have a stereo chorus pedal. thanks again for the info! - Mon, 1 Nov 2004 1:59pm
[+} User Info... | the chorus is going to be fairly subtle unless you are running differently EQ'd amps. stereo delay or a stereo pan is a worthwile 2 amp effect IMO. something you might want to check out: http://loooper.com/ - Wed, 3 Nov 2004 12:15am
