Japanese Air Force User Info... | I get a phone call from them at least every two weeks. When I do actually answer the phone, the guy usually stumbles through my band name or a name of a band I used to play in, or even some name that he's made up on the spot. He then proceeds to ask me when we can talk about getting some CD's manufactured and for sale via Indiepool, and asks me about merch and websites and hosting and a million other things I already have. When I see the number on my cell display, I don't even answer it any more and they don't leave voice mail anymore, yet they still call me every two weeks. I want to fucking stab them in the eyes. Does anyone else have this curse? I'd be curious to know if Indiepool has chosen to hound me as its' Victoria music scene representative or if I'm just one of many poor schmoes getting annoyed by these people. ~JAF - Thu, 7 Oct 2004 1:57pm
ML7Mike User Info... | they called me once and left a message. They spam me weekly I think though through email. - Thu, 7 Oct 2004 3:11pm
The One After Two User Info... | haven't done the band thing for years... still get the odd call. Mine comes from a chick in Calgary. I like phone calls from girls. - Fri, 8 Oct 2004 12:31am
Brand X Media User Info... | Bad news. I'd file a complaint, although I'm not sure to whom. they seem like the indie equivelent to 'penis enlargment' email ads. - Fri, 8 Oct 2004 12:58am
Fableway User Info... | we get calls from them all the time trying to make merch deals and record recordings. you say theyre sheisters? should i not deal with them? because ive been thinking about getting some merch made through them. please let me know, I'd trust an ex-musician stranger before I'd trust a business that is full of strangers trying to make money off me. - Fri, 8 Oct 2004 10:08am
Japanese Air Force User Info... | I'm not an ex-musician yet. They're not really sheisters, they're just really really really fucking annoying. From what I understand, when they first started out as a distribution company, the main tactic they'd use to get indie bands into stores would be to hound the stores until they put the cd's in just to shut Indiepool up. It would appear that even though they've since grown from distribution to merch, media, duplication and everything else they can think of, they're still using the same tactics, even on their potential customers. I base my opinion on that. I don't want to work with them 'cause I find their tactics really fucking annoying, and I wouldn't want people to associate that with my band. On the other hand, I don't know anyone who actually uses them for distributing their cd's and so, I couldn't tell you how they actually are to work with. If I were going to consider them, I would first do some research. Ask around to see if anyone around here uses them and get their opinions. Good luck! ~JAF - Fri, 8 Oct 2004 2:37pm
princess p User Info... | We just sent our album to be pressed by indie pool. They have been nothing but helpful to us. We never get annoying phone calls or any of that stuff. - Fri, 8 Oct 2004 4:22pm
Fableway User Info... | sorry i misread, we get lots of calls and spam, it is annoying, but some of the merch prices seemed right. ill have to look deeper into it. peace and thanks - Fri, 8 Oct 2004 4:47pm
Borat User Info... | I have used IndiePool for several months to sell CD's on-line. Contrary to the posts so far I seldom get bothered by them. If they were to overadvertise to me I would simply ask them to stop. They certainly do a good job of handling CD sales and also enable people to order CD's through the bigger record stores via an arrangement they have made. - Fri, 8 Oct 2004 5:27pm
