Message Board > Music Chitchat - Heavy > Who's opening for the Tea Party |
KinCrumb User Info... | I can't seem to find out from anywhere who is opening for the Tea Party at Legends on August 25. Does anyone know? Aslo, does anyone know what time the Tea Party go on stage? Thanks - Tue, 24 Aug 2004 6:59pm
Jack User Info... | Tea Party did a show at the Commodore in Vancouver last winter/spring...it was an amazing set. They did a bunch of acoustic numbers amidst the heavier plugged-in stuff, using everything from theremins, to 12-string guitars, to some sort of middle eastern bowed intrument. Anyways, there was no opening act, so if you're going, get there early and find a good seat. My tix are for the second show on the 26th, it says doors open at 8:00... - Wed, 25 Aug 2004 9:09am

Yo Mama User Info... | I belive the opening act is a local band called The Years. - Wed, 25 Aug 2004 11:10am
KnifeGhost User Info... | Why is it that the opening spots to shows like this go to bands I've never heard of? - Sun, 29 Aug 2004 8:56pm
shibby User Info... | maybe you should get out more. you f**k. the years are the latest band from vancouver to sign to 604. - Thu, 9 Sep 2004 10:11am
Brand X Jesse User Info... | 604 records rules. - Thu, 9 Sep 2004 11:23am
KnifeGhost User Info... | It's weird.... I never hear of these bands until they get signed... If they're such a great local band, why have I never heard of them? I keep my ear reasonably near to the ground.... Wouldn't thay have _at least_ been to Victoria a few times if they're just from Vancouver? *shrug* I dunno what it is..... Oh wait.... I keep forgetting I'm an indie-rock elitist.... I'm too busy trying to look cool to guys in tight pants to keep up on the industry...... (Although, say what you will about 604, The Organ rules...) - Fri, 10 Sep 2004 1:10am
One Divided User Info... | The years are signed to 604 and TVT and they are from vancouver. I don't think they have played in town much but I know they have played with Jet, Sam Robberts and those types of bands (which they sound like).. I think the misconception with 604 is that there are bands that Jonthan Simkin signs and there are bands that Chad signs. The Organ, Marianas Trench and The Years are all Simkin bands where as Theory of Dead Man and Thornley were signed on Chad's behalf. You see my point? 604 is not a fucking Nickelback clone label! - Sat, 11 Sep 2004 4:34pm
Fred the Dragon User Info... | Oh fuck, Adam... you're one to talk. Keep justifying it to yourself man. Say hi to Chad for me. - Sat, 11 Sep 2004 6:32pm
Brand X Media User Info... | I actually find The organ to be pretty overrated, and even though I'm not a fan - they are perhaps the only redeeming quility 604 has to offer, and that's not a lot. Just my opinion. As far as 604 goes - I've found it to be a haven for offensivly typical bands. Nickelback, Default, Theory of A Dead Man and Thornley are all so lame. - Sat, 11 Sep 2004 7:22pm
One Divided User Info... | Hey in all honesty, I am not a Theory of Nickelfualt fan, but I certainly would have been stupid to pass on the oppertunity of working with Chad. That aside, we decided to have Dave Genn produce our upcoming release. Fred, will do buddy.. What band are you from again? - Sat, 11 Sep 2004 7:50pm
The One After Two User Info... | if someone will pay you money to make music, take the cheque, cash it, buy a sports car and have sex with models. 604 is still pretty new. Give it some time to grow and maybe one day Fred the Dragon will be happy :) I thought the Organ were on Mint or Netwerk? Silly me. oh oh, here it is: From Much Music dot com The Organ are a Vancouver quintet, formed in 2001. In a short space of time, this all female ensemble gained rapid exposure with the release of their first EP, Sinking Hearts; and a live show that has spirited them on stage with some of the most significant bands today. A critical and popular favourite, The Organ write melodic and introspective music based on layered interplay between their instrumentalists — Debora Cohen, guitar; Ashley Webber, bass; Shelby Stocks, drums; Jenny Smyth, Hammond organ — and the intimate and doleful lyrics of their lead singer, Katie Sketch. In 2003, The Organ signed a co-record deal with both Mint and 604 Records. As a result, their debut record, Grab That Gun, is being released on May 25th. - Sat, 11 Sep 2004 9:22pm
