greatestatguitar User Info... | its funny you say that,, me and my friend went their asking for egg cartons and two people,, said they didn;t have egg cartons,,, those bastards,,, i really need egg cartons or foam - Thu, 10 Jun 2004 3:52pm
toby User Info... | sometimes leaving some space in between layers will help. harder/dencer objects are moore reflective. all egg cartons will do is cut down on your highs and high-mids and become a fire hazard so watch out arround outlets and lights, as for your bass well better off finding something with larger pitts in it. foam is good cause it is a lot of small pockets which the sound has to pass through each one. try a bakery or resturaunt like copper jhons, or a pancake house they'll use lots of eggs. multiple layers of diffenent densities is the best advise. from the almost qualified pro! - Thu, 10 Jun 2004 5:02pm
odb User Info... | Is your goal to deaden the sound so it don't hurt your ears, or to block the sound so your nighbours won't hear it?.. because all egg cartons will do is deaden the highs (especially cymbals), if your goal is to make the sound at jams less harsh i would recomend the foam with the "egg-crate" pattern in it. If your goal is to soundporoof it so your nieghbours cant hear it then the thing you need is weight. the more something weighs the more sound it will stop. heavy wool blankets, futons, carpet, the thicker and heavier the better. and if you want it to be super soundproof you have to make it airtight. so fill in cracks around doors, cover electrical outlets and nail a piece of plywood to the door that overlaps at least an inch. good luck - Thu, 10 Jun 2004 5:34pm
