Not just the Sex Pistols thing and the rocknroll swindle, but PIL, a great band; his 12" of Madame Butterfly is simply the best non-operatic cover of Puccini ever recorded, Buffalo gals wont you come out tonight was crazier than KD's boots. And if you go into any of the really early underground videos on hip hop's birth there he is, sitting in Crooklyn bar after a lot party wondering if he'll get out alive but knowing he is watching once again the birth of something new and unique, involving broke kids with nothing but two turntables inventing their own world. And figuring out how he can make some money off it. Who else would even consider, let alone go ahead and make a video out of rope jumping girls teams? He is punk's finger in the air to David Bowie's art rockers. It is a shame he is gone but I for one am grateful for his recorded madness. | Sati User Info... | wierd kind of cancer I've always been a fan. The whole mess of characters have always inspired me - him, VW, their son, the bands, ever since I was a kid. I was a little sad when I found out yesterday and then I got totally frustrated. I think that's a good thing. I miss punk. Thanks for posting the link. I hate to say it but I thought he kinda sucked. I got to see PiL once, and I honestly couldn't stop smiling.
