Stairway To Hell User Info... | I do agree with Maurice. Very good live performance, add to that Hoochy, Habitat, Armchair Cynics and you got a killer all-ager. - Tue, 2 Mar 2004 7:47pm
GanstaDrew User Info... | Yea, i'd agree on those four bands above, and maybe add One Drop. They're not as young, but hella good. - Tue, 2 Mar 2004 8:06pm
[+} User Info... | i already have maurice down for a band that i definitely want to do a show with. i was thinking about getting smallhorse and the armchair cynics.. but i want some brutal metal for the kids. hmmm... perhaps... pariah? enchanted faeries? seasons of sorrow? i would like the quadra kickoff to be good for everyone. i'm also looking for talented songwriters to do the in-between gig. i'd ask someone like Wil.. but there's little to no hope on getting a guy who's opening for Colin James to do a little all ager. (ps. i know that pleasing EVERYONE is improbable. but still.) - Tue, 2 Mar 2004 9:03pm
KnifeGhost User Info... | Hey, you should get Acting Ensign..... Star Trek grindcore.... - Wed, 3 Mar 2004 6:40pm
[+} User Info... | i've heard about acting ensign. sounds like a great show. just to let all those interested know. the score is: {bands who expressed an interest}: The Hoosegow Faces of Black The Poppies {you were interested in}: Hoochy Girls Kincaide The Habitat Lythic Blue Immaculate Machine Smallhorse Ghosts Carolyn Mark Meat Locker Seven Maurice Wrong Hole Action Faces of Black Acorn Hell Zappnin Black Bronze Mitochondrion Armchair Cynics Amps To Eleven The Whether One Drop PHEW!!! {and... this was my original sketch idea of a couple bands i'd like}: maurice smallhorse armchair cynics but as i said i also wanted to get some variety in thurr. - Wed, 3 Mar 2004 7:07pm
[+} User Info... | oh! and a quick update: abuse of power jeffery sez & pariah have all emailed me with interest in the quadra opening show. anyone into having those bands do this all ager? - Wed, 3 Mar 2004 7:15pm

lauren a User Info... | i say no to jeffrey sez. - Wed, 3 Mar 2004 9:09pm
Oxygen Thief User Info... | Acting Ensign would be more than happy to fuck up our songs in front of strangers. Especially if the Poppies are there. Except, the guitar player. He's a dick. PS Bring Weed - Thu, 4 Mar 2004 1:49pm
des fleurs User Info... | dear aidan, pick what you want. I like your taste. and I agree that diversity for all-agers is a must. - Thu, 4 Mar 2004 2:58pm
Son of Mogh User Info... | Acting Ensign doesn't play grindcore. They play Cosmic Doom (more like Cosmic Gore truth be told), Huge difference. If anyone is into that or knows what is is, we'd love to get high with you, i mean do a show with you. - Thu, 4 Mar 2004 3:07pm
KnifeGhost User Info... | I don't know fuck about fuck, man, I listen to REM and Depeche Mode and shit.... - Thu, 4 Mar 2004 8:12pm
The One After Two User Info... | Diversity is cool but a word of caution... If you throw a hard-core band with a metal and a pop-punk group with Carolyn mark, you'll get a whole lot of "what the fuck" and people will leave. Personally I am from the rock night, then a punk night, then a metal night school of thought. The kids that come to see The Habitat might not make it thru Star-Trek inspired Grind-core. I however would love to hear what Star-Trek Grindcore is all about... - Thu, 4 Mar 2004 9:11pm
GanstaDrew User Info... | Yea, i definently agree with The One After Two. Habitat's one of my fav bands out there, but if it's them and some death metal band, the show might not slide along to smoothly. I agree, make a night where it's Habitat and maybe Armchair, Poppies any of those, and then make a heavier night with some of the metal bands in vic. I'd like to see the new venue though, sounds interesting. - Thu, 4 Mar 2004 9:30pm
Japanese Air Force User Info... | I dunno... I played with Squish, a Celtic rock band, and we did a couple of gigs with Dizzy, not a Celtic rock band :), and they went over really well. If you get some diversity, people don't get tired 'cause they're hearing the "same thing" for 4 hours. My 2 cents. I'd like to get my band on a decent all-ages show or two this summer... we rarely get to play them and when we do, they're usually a blast. ~JAF - Thu, 4 Mar 2004 10:04pm

lauren a User Info... | I also say no to the habitat! please god, aidan. NO HABITAT! - Fri, 5 Mar 2004 6:39am
utopian society User Info... | Well, it may not be a good idea to get a bunch of completely different bands playing together, but a little diversity would certainly make it interesting... a pop band, a punk band, and a ska band, for instance. Most people can afford to be a little adventurous in their musical tastes, and if you can make them walk away from the show thinking, "Wow, I've never heard anything like that before and man was it cool", it's a job well done. It's not completely about giving the audience what they want to hear (or what they think they want to hear), it's about giving them exposure to something they may have never experienced before. Don't be afraid to push the envelope. - Fri, 5 Mar 2004 12:36pm
[+} User Info... | JAF: i'd like to see ghosts of science play an all ager. if that's not too much to ask? i think a multi-genre showcase would be sweet. but seeing how as there are so many bands that people want to see/expressed an interest: maybe broken into two shows? i'd love to see something along the lines of: ver 1.0 + young rock band (pushing up daisies, etc.) + lively show band (maurice, etc.) + smooth, dance-y band (smallhorse, etc.) + fast. furious. (pariah, etc.) + overdrive! mosh! epic! (abuse of power, etc.) or! ver 1.1 2 shows: one night of "mellowed" music and one night of "loudfastcrazy" music. y'dig? if any other promoters are looking into expanding musical horizons, while putting bands into an intimate new venue (mostly because this will take a bit more planning), please contact me: [email protected] - Fri, 5 Mar 2004 2:34pm
Brand X Media User Info... | It should be noted the Meatlocker 7 w/ carolynn Mark suggestion was a half assed joke on my part. I think that could go horribly wrong. Like Puff Daddy playing with Robert Plant. Man - that was a bad idea. - Fri, 5 Mar 2004 3:12pm
des fleurs User Info... | + young rock band (pushing up daisies, etc.) + lively show band (maurice, etc.) + smooth, dance-y band (smallhorse, etc.) + fast. furious. (pariah, etc.) + overdrive! mosh! epic! (abuse of power, etc.) Seems like a good flow to me. - Fri, 5 Mar 2004 3:56pm
lauren a User Info... | THE BENDS!!!! I say Ghost of Science do half of their set as the ever loveable radiohead cover band and half as the ever popular ghost of science. - Fri, 5 Mar 2004 4:35pm
The One After Two User Info... | You guys are right, you do need some diversity... Open people's minds... just by going out to a show you are nailing the few progressive types in this city. The idea of a pop, punk and ska band would fly. Its not really about genre I guess, just quality, good bands always shine. Never would of though of myself as a Carolyn Mark fan till I saw her live. - Fri, 5 Mar 2004 6:33pm
Japanese Air Force User Info... | Ghost of Science all-ager would be sweet. I really hope we can get on at least one in the next couple months. Isn't LivevicScott the king of putting on all-agers around here? I don't know if we're going to do the bends in Victoria anymore... it's kind of a "once in a while" kind of gig, and we already played quite a few shows here. We're doing a GoS/bends show in Vancouver next month tho. It'll be interesting to see what kind of draw the bends gets over there. Anyways, I think with all the bands listed so far, you've got the making of a whole all-age series, much less one or two good shows. :) I hate to think what I would be doing right now if I hadn't been able to see bands when I was younger.... I doubt it'd be playing music. ~JAF - Fri, 5 Mar 2004 8:03pm
lauren a User Info... | But you've never done a bends all ager and i have yet to see you! Pleeeeeeeeease :( - Fri, 5 Mar 2004 8:32pm
Fred the Dragon User Info... | Here's my suggestions: One Drop King Bong Meatlocker Seven All three bands, while totally different, have enough in common to make a night together work. Throw a punk-ish type band on the bill and it would be a great night. Moneyshot? AWT? Hoosegow? - Sat, 6 Mar 2004 4:59am

ROSS B AY User Info... | Armchair Cynics Kickback Tough As Nails Undergo (RIP...) Lythic Blue Pariah Kegkillers I'd pay upwards of 12 bucks to see something like that. - Sat, 6 Mar 2004 6:59am
anti-blue-up User Info... | i don't know if 'most people can afford to be adventurous' with the shows they go to, especially some of young folks. a lot of people have to pick and choose carefully where they throw their bucks when it comes to entertainment. i'm sorry, but diversity sucks if you've paid 10 bucks and you have to sit through crap you hate to get to the good bands (especially in a beer-free environment). I would have to agree with the poster above and say that you'll get better results if you don't radically mix the genres. - Sat, 6 Mar 2004 8:14am
ROSS B AY User Info... | It's all how you present it to the kids. I guarantee personally that this will work. One of the best ideas this scene has had in quite a while. Proper promo=successful gigs. - Sat, 6 Mar 2004 8:32am
Gare User Info... | Wow how about Peoples War with The Hoochy Girls, One Track Mind, Mad Hatters and Pamplemousse (wait thats tonight! at the gary oak room) Shameless baby shameless - Sat, 6 Mar 2004 9:03am

[+} User Info... | totally. the whole genre deal: the bands aren't THAT far apart, musically speaking. i'd just like to put on a show with bands that you (the representatives of the live victoria music scene. heh!) would like to see. and that goes for me as well. there are so many bands in victoria that the all-ages crowd don't get to see/rarely get to see. so far, i would like to do possibly 2 shows (sort of a mini-festival) with some of the, in my opinion, best bands right now in victoria. i don't know if anyone else is interested in helping to put on such a show, but if you are.. any and all help would be appreciated. [email protected] thanks! - Sat, 6 Mar 2004 10:26am
inline_punk User Info... | Ya wouldn't it be great if the armchair cynics or lythic poo came to victoria..........................Boooooooooo Radio gayness. What about real bands like antievangilist, Acting Ensign, Iskra...........now that would be a show. Also i want to see the Transplants (Because I heard there usually a lot of rollerbladers at their shows). Meet ya in da' pit! IP - Sat, 6 Mar 2004 11:32am
[+} User Info... | yeah.. you rollerblade. yeah. - Sat, 6 Mar 2004 4:59pm
Livevic Scott User Info... | Whenever I do an AA show I always try and get a good mix of styles while keeping it generally close (which I do with relitive success I think, sometimes its a bit of a stretch) Also a good mix of older and younger bands is nice, gives everyone a chance to see what the other side is up to! The kids get to see some of the "bar bands" and the older guys that don't usually get out to the AA get to see some of the up and comming players. So yeah I think you got the right idea Adien!! *cough* A great example of mixing genures and ages and scenes is our Warsaw Pack (from Hamilton), Peoples War (experienced players), DJ Knowone (bringing the electronic side of music and selecting into the mix) and Pushing Up Daisies (new kids on the block) ... March 21st *grin* *cough* I didn't just plug that. - Sat, 6 Mar 2004 5:11pm
