Not true... you just gotta find better sources ;) Besides, don't you buy CDs anymore, and don't you know how to rip? - Tue, 27 Jan 2004 12:09pm

Who buys cds anymore? Especially when their fuckin $15 dollars. I have no problem at all dishing out $5 or $6 on a local band's cd, cause i know i'm supporting their music and i know most of the local bands aren't rich. But why the fuck would i spend $15 to give to Nickelback or any other mulit million dollar music giant. It's a fuckin joke. Until their prices come down, I'm gonna keep downloading. The music industry sucks, the underground industry is awsome, but the giant music corps like SOny and them suck my balls. - Tue, 27 Jan 2004 12:12pm

You mean...rip off? Musicians should be paid one way or another for their works! Download from the legitimate websites and you'll have trouble free music (and karma). - Tue, 27 Jan 2004 12:12pm

I've rarely got incomplete songs over Kazaa lite or Waste. Double check the file size against the same song someone else is hosting. Usually the larger file size speaks volumes compared to someone who only got a portion of the song. - Tue, 27 Jan 2004 12:59pm

yeah i find one that worked....finally.

why would i pay fro puretracks or other shitty sites like that when i have kazaa?

sure the artists deserve something, but i'm not spending $15 on some CD when the artist only gets what????? A buck or two? No fuckin way. I'd rather p2p.

Please tell me you're using Kazaa lite and not Kazza. Kazaa is stuffed full of wonderful spyware and crap. Might be tough finding Kazaa lite install now since Kazaa layed the smackdown on Kazaa lite. If you're using Kazaa, I can shoot ya a copy of Kazaa lite if ya want. - Tue, 27 Jan 2004 1:35pm

Kazaa Lite is the way to go, cause as was pointed out, it gets rid of the ad/scumware feature you'll find in Kazaa. Besides, it pisses off Kazaa if you use K-Lite. However, you should also be running Ad Aware so it catches Ad software-type thingies.

I don't know about you guys, but I buy CDs, regardless of whether there local or on a major label. Usually I'll buy major label CDs because I can't find it on the net. These days, I download stuff from either IRC, Usenet or FTP. - Tue, 27 Jan 2004 5:14pm

If you can't find a decent download to a song you're looking for, you're a tool.

Any band worth downloading posts their shit for free on their website. You'd be surprised how much music, from bands you know and love, post free music that they WANT you to download.

As for over priced CDs... $15 bucks, you're lucky, if its a band you really want and you have to go to Ditch, try like $20! But if its a band you love, shut-up and put down, why would you steal from a band you like? Bizarre. - Tue, 27 Jan 2004 10:07pm

BUY FUCKING CDS... THATS ALL I DO. WHY THE FUCK DO YOU WORK? IF YOU LIKE MUSIC THAT MUCH, YOU'LL BUY THE CD, IF NOT SHUT YOUR MOUTHS AND QUIT COMPLAINING ABOUT THE PRICES OF CDS, WHAT THE HELL ELSE ARE YOU GONNA DO WITH YOUR MONEY ON THIS ISLAND, BUY FUCKING DRUGS...? GET A FUCKING CLUE. And all of you who always bitch about the "industry" whether it'd be mainstream or underground people need to make money from the rolling stones to the band I play for it's all the same - Tue, 27 Jan 2004 10:33pm

no, i don't use kazaa, and it pisses me off when ppl do. It's packed with a shitload of ads, spyware and other useless shit that clogs up the interface.

I use something thats called K++, a sort of 'hacked' version of kazaa lite. It's hard to find, but me and all my friends converted from lite to it. Some of the benefits of K++:

-it blocks the IP's of the RIAA
-users can't see whcih files you're sharing, but they can search and download them from you
-maximum participation rating, which means you always get download priority
-no ads, no popups
-no spyware
-unlimited search results

run a search for it and download it. It's worth it, much better than Kazaa Lite.

k++ IS kazaa lite...LMAO! Only difference is the added features from previous versions ;) Hit their site and you'll notice K++ isn't even available for download anymore. Why? Because Kazaa Lite was smacked down by Kazaa for reverse engineering their product.

First off, CDs have come down in price. I'd say 7 out of the last 10 cds I have bought have been less then $11.. I purchased more cds last year then any other year in my life.

Something else you need to consider when you download music is that a lot of the bands that should be getting signed are not these days. The record labels are not willing to take risks like they could only 3 years ago. So by buying the nickelbacks, justin timberlakes, whatever bs, you are indirectly supporting other smaller and unsigned artists. In the long run, that means more high production, label releases available on the market. - Wed, 28 Jan 2004 2:46pm

I can't believe how fresh and original this thread is. And everyone is coming up with such insightful, neverbeforeheard arguments. Kudos to all. - Thu, 29 Jan 2004 4:33pm
