Wig User Info... | top of my overated list... U2, hype over hype over hype. Q.how does a mutilmillion dollar band have their album leaked on the internet a month early? A.they did it them selves for the hype. they are so washed up. if a no name band came out with that last album they realeased i don't think we would be hearing the same single five times a day for two months, in fact i don't think it would get airplay. U2 sells them selves in the same fashion as the swifer wet jet broom, you are told by TV it's the greatest and you don't disagree. number two on the list, Ashley simpson, i don't think i have to go into this one. - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 12:10pm
I hate these bands most of all! User Info... | Maroon 5 can suck my white ass. Also Modest Mouse. And Avril Lavigne, Our Lady Peace, Celine, Rod f'in Stewart, and Alanis Morrisette. Hot Hot Heat is basically a Cure ripoff and I thought the Cure REALLY sucked to begin with. P. Diddy, while not actually a 'band' takes samples from good bands and turns the suck knob to 11. Oh yeah, and Coldplay is about as overrated as they come. Wimp rock all the way! - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 12:19pm
Brandon User Info... | I agree with that statement 100% - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 2:23pm

Yo Mama User Info... | To Dr. V, who said all rap is overrated...you must be serious. What's next on the list? That loud rock 'n' roll howgwash that all the kids are listening to these days? That's a very generalized, un-informed opinion. Surely to make that comment you have listened to every rap release ever put to tape/record/CD, right? - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 5:15pm
Troutbreath User Info... | I can't tell where one rap "song" ends and the next one begins. I understand it's origins, i know what they were trying to say. They've done that, now let's move on. - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 5:23pm
Yo Mama User Info... | I understand where you're coming from...but some would say you're not listening hard enough. In terms of rap/hip-hop, like any music, it's quality not quantity. Listen to the good stuff, and you simply can not say it all the sounds the same. - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 5:56pm
denver User Info... | I agree with yo mama, and troutbreath i don't know what kind of music your into but a lot of styles start out cool then start sucking when they get commercialized, most people don't judge metal by listening to linkin park or new metallica, same with grunge.... there's tons of awesome hip hop/rap, people with amazing musical/lyrical/rhythmic capabilities, a ton of it does suck though, ja rule, 50 cent, tons of the popular shit and U2, i think they made some great albums, and it's been 13 years since they've done anything close to really cool and unique, but their overall message is still a positive one, i would never buy their cd after hearing "all because of you," but i can still handle them more than most other radio friendly bands, I think they are still sincere, even though bono seems to have an ego and a personal agenda, their album should be called "how to win a nobel peace prize" or something, not how to dismantle an atomic bomb, both are pretty cheesy though - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 6:29pm
Broccoli User Info... | Why has Celine Deon not been mentioned yet? There is only one bag worse: Cher. Fuck I hate Cher Nelly and Ja-Rool types are pretty shitty too. - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 6:45pm
Mi*coll* User Info... | does overrated = sell a lot of records? - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 6:51pm
nick User Info... | you bet. - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 6:53pm
The One After Two User Info... | and does overrated mean I don't enjoy them (at least sometimes or used to?). I said Arcade Fire, but I have the disc and like it, it just wasn't what I expected from, the hype. I thought it was not as good Modest Mouse, which made someone else's list... so is Modest Mouse not a very good, I dunno, Fugazi, which made yet someone else's list... someone said Interpol? WTF? but maybe they just don't live up to hype, still a solid group... or Postal Service, sounds nice but maybe not worth indie media circle jerk. and The Cure? pretty important band in the life of new music to be making this list, but its all subjective. - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 9:25pm
mcecill User Info... | I mentioned both interpol and the postal service. For me hype is based on how much I hear how good a particular band is. Whether it's from friends, the media etc. I have heard huge amounts of praise regarding both these bands and I just don't think either group is as amazing as I have heard they are. Moreso The Postal Service. I love Death Cab for Cutie, but most of The Postal Service's music, though somewhat original, and full of wonderful lyrics (just like DCFC) sounds like cheap basement laptop beats that any bored individual could whip up in no time. I guess what I'm saying is that musically the band doesn't interest me. - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 10:49pm
nick User Info... | I think they mean over rated for the most part, not bad. Like all the "indie pop/rock/whatever" bands. like Interpol, Arcade Fire, etc. It's not that they're bad... it's just that they really aren't doing anything thats that different from any other band. And they don't have to. But music magazines and hardcore fans like to think that every new band is the next savior of (insert genre here.) anyway, thats my thoughts. go to town folks. I'm surprised no one said Bob Dylan. - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 10:50pm
The One After Two User Info... | mcecill, can't disagree with that post at all. Bands sound pretty, don't really adventure to much. Interpol has a bit of an attitude too, but now I'm just gossiping :-) - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 11:04pm
The Wolf User Info... | Love the muisc but looking back ...Guns and Roses - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 11:58pm
Kris User Info... | I wouldn't debate any of those except tom waits. I love arcade fire but I can see what you are saying Nick and its fair enough. Its more of a personal liking I dont think they are the saviours of music or that the whole world should love them. But tom waits is different man, I think tom waits has been around long enough and written music in almost any genre he could write in and I think thats fair enough to say he's not overrated. Plus is tom waits hugely famous anyways? i dont know. i never thought he was that overrated. as for me: I think interpol is overrated as well aaaaaaaaaand the organ (i bought that disk and listened to it once) and also wolf parade i find quite overrated this is all just my personal opinion, i'm sure these bands connect with alot of people. and i think stella was a diver and she was always down is a great song - Tue, 8 Feb 2005 2:30am
SickFuk User Info... | Sorry Nat, but I still have to disagree... as am I'm sure alot of other... Lamb of God kicks ass Just because your little bro's friends like it.. doesn't mean alot of "adults" [can't really put myself in that category] think it's crap... I personally am really into "As the Palaces Burn" and "Ashes in the Wake"... saw them live last October, and I'd go again if they came back... In fact, I've even taken As the Palaces Burn and sped it up to 130... but thats just 'cause I'm nuts....{:) 'ere - Tue, 8 Feb 2005 2:53am

Brendan User Info... | The Darkness fucking sux. sux sux sux. I want to pull the legs of the singer from The Strokes and use them to beat The Darkness to a pulp. Then I'll stick those legs up the collective bum of Jimmy Eat World. God like we need another band that cries all the time. - Tue, 8 Feb 2005 11:32am

Mike K User Info... | The top of the pile of heaping crap...The worst modern rock posers of 2004/2005 currently wasting peoples money are Green Day, Korn, Simple Plan, Papa Roach, Blink 182, Nickelback, The Killers, Jet, Jimmy Eat World, U2, The Distillers, Three Days Grace, Franz Ferdinand, Shinedown, Chevelle, Crossfade, Fuel, Sum 41(posers), The Used, The Darkness, Maroon 5, Audioslave, Velvet Revolver and the winner is...THE DARKNESS, congratulations you wannabe posers Runners up - Velvet Revolver and Simple Plan, Sorry Green Day, you'll probably be the worst next year... - Tue, 8 Feb 2005 5:21pm
Wig User Info... | sounds like 'the zones' playlist hahaha they suck - Tue, 8 Feb 2005 5:36pm
Yo Mama User Info... | The only thing I will say about Killers, Franz, and Modest is this - better them successful than some other Moron 5 loser act. These guys are at least trying to make worthwhile music; in the eyes of some, they are succeeding. Whether someone likes it or not, that's personal opinion (I happen to like all three) but they beat the hell out of a lot of new bands out there. I've seen Modest Mouse in Victoria three times and there is not many acts can match them for intensity. Do I listen to them? Not really. But I can respect them. - Tue, 8 Feb 2005 5:47pm
Jaron Evil User Info... | Green Day Nirvana Slipknot Mushroomhead Hot Hot Heat Modest Mouse The White Stripes Metallica Limp Biscuit Korn Offspring Godsmack Papa Roach Linkin Park Marilyn Manson Evanescence Sum 41 Finger Eleven Matchbox 20 Mnemic Good Charlotte A Simple Plan m/ - Tue, 8 Feb 2005 6:18pm
Tdizzle User Info... | Jaron, you've got the idea... except offspring... i think theyre right where they belong in their mediocre place. About these random bashings of hip hop tho, there's just as much overrated Hip Hop (G-Unit) as rock (nirvana) or Blues (Some Ray Charles is good... some is just boring). 50 cent is nothing new, neither is Simple Plan. You gotta dig deep, and since all of you seem to have found your niche in rock music, try branching into something new. Rock in general is not as much overrated as overdone. Guitar, bass, drums and singer is constricting... unless you involve new sounds from effects and production which is what keeps it fresh. After a while I just hafta switch on some Groove Armada or Mos Def because they can create a unique amount of back beats from other musical influences. Thats my rant... - Tue, 8 Feb 2005 8:45pm
Mutilashawn User Info... | mitochondrion I'd say Bury What's Dead if I wasn't trying to go steady with one of the guitarists. - Tue, 8 Feb 2005 8:52pm
Tdizzle User Info... | O yeah... Snoop Dogg (One cool mofo... minus his new album), Linkin Park (A good music style with no progress) N.E.R.D. (stick with producing), White Stripes (Got BASS?) , Maroon 5 (same song different track), Boy (SAM ROBERTS??) Nirvana (A Martyr somehow made the sound of a trainwreck appealing), Green Day (The Emo ship has sailed... Warning wasn't amazing either..) Velvet Revolver/Metallica (Money grabbers) Good Charlotte/Simple Plan (Die... Just Die..) P.S., Everyones a poser, including you... so deal with the fact that someone doesnt hafta dress in co-ordination with the music they make - Tue, 8 Feb 2005 8:57pm
nick User Info... | Oh yeah, Nirvana. And yeah, lets drop the whole poser thing already, none of you are original punks or metal heads or any of that crap. (well maybe a few metal heads) just as I wasn't born in the 60's and I'm not black but thats the kind of music I like. Tdizzle pretty much nailed it so I'm gonna finish my orange now. - Tue, 8 Feb 2005 9:51pm
Grain fed User Info... | I haven't heard anyone mention Audio Slave yet, or Rage all together for that matter. I don't like much hip hop these days. I'm also a little removed from it but the kind of shit like older Tribe and a little more current like Abstract Rude are righteous in their own. Like it was said earlier..... untill you've heard all the songs on all the albums and not just what you hear on the Zone or Much you can't really have an honest opinion. - Tue, 8 Feb 2005 10:11pm
Jaron Evil User Info... | Both you guys (Nick and Tdizzle) need to get over yourselves. "original punk", "original metalhead"....Who gives a shit? People are gonna listen to what they like, whether it sucks or not. Just because I wasn't born in the 70s to grow up with early Judas Priest makes me a poser? Its not my fault I was born in 1981. I grew up on Guns n Roses and Iron Maiden. And currently listen to anything metal. Does that make me any less a "metalhead"? Just cause I wasnt alive when the scene got started? Its not like I woke up one day and thought "hmm...today i think I'll become a metalhead." I'd wear a shirt of a metal band because I support the band, not cause I want others to know how cool I am or some other bullshit. And as far as posers go, they're pretty easy to spot. They never come out to the shows, they download and burn CDs rather than buy them, they never know anything about the music they pretend to like, etc. Let it go. No one likes a 'Holier Than Thou' attitude. I get so fucking sick of all these people who think they're being so fucking stand-offish clever and original by getting all philosophical and saying "Everyones a poser, including you. Deal with it." WHO GIVES A FUCK!! Anyway, thats MY rant. Sorry I hit you guys with both barrels, but dammit, it needed to be said! \m/ - Tue, 8 Feb 2005 10:15pm

Nik Olaz User Info... | in a way i kind of agree with Sinep. i think the Doors were tremendously talented and i respect them, but i don't go out of my way to ever listen to them. i think they're so hyped along with most classic rock by alot of people nowadays (ie: Led Zepplin, AC/DC etc). Good bands, but theres waaay more that is out there today i'd rather listen to. - Wed, 9 Feb 2005 3:21am
