OK so the last thread went off into other topics let's keep this one here.

i've been thinking about this and i think you people need to realize what is gonna happen.

if you make $800(give or take),with this tax harmonized, you'll be paying 12%of that to taxes.which over a year is about $1500 . Therefore, you now have just worked for free for a month just paying taxes.is anyone's wage gonna go up if this happens?highly unlikely.think your GST cheque will be bigger?WRONG. Every single item you purchase will cost you more with the exception of weed.it's not taxed.

This new HST idea will only hurt low income families and cripple already poverty stricken people. I don't feel like giving away 1500 dollars a year to the government in taxes.

P.S.That 1500 dollars is just the new 7% you would be paying, not the 5% you're already paying on most foods and things. - Tue, 11 Aug 2009 1:24pm

You realize those taxes are what pay for our healthcare system - among soooooo many other things.
We have it easy compared to Europe where some items are taxed 19%. But then - they have even better social systems than us. And yeah, there's less taxes in the states - but then they get f*cked even if they do have health "insurance". - Sat, 22 Aug 2009 2:31am

Looks like Bill Vander Zalm wants to force a referendum on the HST:

IMHO, here's what makes more sense...
Yes we all have to pay taxes, that's a given...but what about:
1. Round all prices up or down to the nearest $.00, $.05, or $.10 ...this includes at the gas pumps...enough of this $1.02.9 shit...call it what it is...a buck three!!

2. Merge the pst & gst into one HST if you feel you must, but make it 10%.
Isn't 10% of $145.00 easier to figure out than 12% of $144.97 ??? Means easier accounting, means more understanding of the bottom line, means prices might come down, which means those savings can be passed on to the consumer...."Yeah like that's ever gonna happen!!"

But it's okay to have your dreams...at least they can't take those away from you....unless of course they figure out some way to tax them. - Wed, 26 Aug 2009 12:36pm Edited: Wed, 26 Aug 2009 12:38pm

I thought old Bill Vander Zalm had a stroke years ago.. that windmill he built in Richmond is fenced off and falling down in a parking lot full of weeds now. Drove by it a few times this summer as we recorded an album near that place.

Anyhow, as far as HST is concerned, yah it sucks and it will drive away business investment as well as force alot more small buinesses to work under the table.. and with the mood of the people over this, those paying the small businesses to do the work will likely be onboard for clandestine cash dealings rather than shell out to the man. - Sat, 19 Sep 2009 4:37pm

Four on duty police officers... for a peaceful rally of a few hundred people. OF course maybe they were anti H$T...Should they not be instead patrolling the neighbor hoods ...
