Oxygen Thief User Info... | My impression of any ska band: Asshole #1: hey want to form a band?! Asshole#2: Yah but we can't play? Asshole#1: S'ok, well just learn a few reggae chordsor steal a Peter Tosh song, play them really fast, and when anyone says we suck we'll just that we're too "punk rock" for them to understand Asshole#2: Hey good idea!!!!! Can I play bass? - Wed, 11 Sep 2002 1:48pm

god | First of all ska was invented before reggae in jamaica. the wailers even started off as a ska recording a lot with the skatalites. Second of all (not slagging punk or anything) its a fuck of a lot easier to start a street punk band than a ska band. Pick 3 chords play em really fast and there you go. Just look at fucking yeknob, I could right 10 of their songs in an hour ( no offense boys, you put on a good show ). Anyway I listen to both punk ( the unseen, cock sparrer, dayglo, casualties, exploited, pricks, the virus, aus rotten etc. ) and ska ( the slackers, bad manners, the planet smashers, the pietasters, the skatalites, hepcat, etc. ) and I don't think people should be slagging others musical tastes. - Wed, 11 Sep 2002 11:41pm
Dane User Info... | It weird how some people find it necessary to diss things that people are just trying to re-create because it's something they enjoy. The most uninspiring post that someone put "asshole #1" for wanting to jam with people who enjoyed playing ska is really stupid. I really feel sorry for Nev and Scott because all these posts with cowards who won't reveal their e-mail addresses because they're spineless is a real turn off to people who are looking to use the site for more progressive purposes. Not only is it a turnoff but it really takes away from the quality of the message board with people with nothing else better to do than to spread useless, petty bullshit all over the net. No worries though... Nothing gained nothing lost. Ska kicks serious ass!!! By the way here's a message to the person who dissed my post and ska. I put a curse on you. And it goes like this: For every time you diss people into ska on this site two more people will become genuinely interested in it somewhere. And they won't be bandwagon jumpers. They'll like it for life! - Thu, 12 Sep 2002 12:45am
jay brown User Info... | Hey God, hate to point it out to you, but as you were saying that you hate to slag other peoples musical tasted you were busy talking about how easy punk rock is and how you could write ten yeknob songs in an hour. Sounds an awful lot loke slagging to me.I'm not going to hack anyones musical preferences cause I like some ska, but there's a lot of crap out there. Just like punk, and really a talented punk band is no different than any other talented band, they write good music. If you could write it, you probably already would of and you'd be the famous one now. - Thu, 12 Sep 2002 2:24am

Oxygen Thief User Info... | S'true you can listen to whatever you want I also have the right to make fun of you. The System works! (Yay!) BTW: I used Asshole#1 and Asshole#2 instead of their names to protect the incompetent - Thu, 12 Sep 2002 3:04pm
Masturbating The War God User Info... | In what other music genre can you 'skank' to music. That's the winning ticket right there. (please as this is a computer, NOTE the USE OF SARCASIM!) - Thu, 12 Sep 2002 3:44pm
god | i wasn't slagging yeknob, i was just using their pointing out that they play really simple punk which is no different than really simple ska. I listen to a lot of bands that play the same sort of shit yeknob does. There are bands like choke that I hate and they play really tech shit. If a bands songs are easy to play it doesn't mean I don't like them, just look at the Ramones. - Thu, 12 Sep 2002 11:32pm
yeah, yeah, yeah... | this goes back to that discussion someone was having about any good drummer being able to sit in on another band's set, with little to no rehearsal and pull it off. If you're playing something with a straight forward beat with nothing exceptionally complicated to change up the monotony, then yes, any half decent drummer could do it. If, however, you're in a band that spends some time and energy putting DETAILS into their tunes, then it would be next to impossible for anybody to sit in without practice. Throw together 3 chords..kinda hard to screw that up..it'll probably sound alright. Good ska, good punk, good rock, good anything...it's in the details. - Fri, 13 Sep 2002 12:23pm
Bass Hoochy User Info... | i disagree. look at most famous bands, for example, the most famous of them all: the beatles. Most of their songs are no more than four or five chords, and nothing really complex is utilized in most of their stuff. Yet, it is very good music. p.s. skanking is fun - Fri, 13 Sep 2002 6:03pm
jay brown User Info... | you dont need four thousand time changes to have good music. More often than not that stuff is no fun to listen to anyways. Try to dance to it, go ahead. Good music is all about finding that rhythm that works for people, and ya more often than not it's the simple stuff cause it's the easiest to get into. - Fri, 13 Sep 2002 8:25pm
