J. Peatman User Info... | Can anyone recommend a good and affordable vocal coach or training facility somewhere in Vic? Preferably not too heavy on the operatic or classical side. - Mon, 22 Jun 2009 7:50am
Chopper User Info... | I've heard really good things about Victoria Zajchowski. She's not your typical voice coach, and works more with how to properly control your body to get what you want than technical voice coaches. Victoria Zajchowski (250) 298-0738 - Mon, 22 Jun 2009 1:10pm
Curmudgeon Rocker User Info... | I don't know her number, but..... - Mon, 22 Jun 2009 5:08pm
J. Peatman User Info... | Thanks for the tip, Chopper, I found her website too meanwhile and I will definitely get in touch with her. I'm afraid Susan Boyle is a little fragile right now. I don't want to send her over the edge if she requests to hear my performance in Black Lotus. - Tue, 23 Jun 2009 11:09pm
J fatso User Info... | Save yerself the money and just pick up a copy of "THE ZEN OF SCREAMING". It's good stuff. - Wed, 24 Jun 2009 10:52am
RobW. User Info... | Amy at Long and Mcquade (if she's still there) is great. She helped me out tons.. I've been meaning to start lessons again. - Wed, 24 Jun 2009 12:27pm
Tyler User Info... | once I downloaded the zen of screaming. it seemed to be about 3 minutes of instructional material and otherwise a TON of "famous singers" endorsing the product / rehashing the instructional material. I get it. breathing exercises and using the diaphragm. sounding like the bands I like is a bad idea. whatever. - Thu, 25 Jun 2009 10:45am Edited: Thu, 25 Jun 2009 11:18am
Mr. Hell User Info... | The Zen Of Screaming makes everyone who uses it sound like the nerd from Lamb Of God. Samey, samey, same. - Thu, 25 Jun 2009 5:03pm
J. Peatman User Info... | I watched the Zen before, was not impressed. Like Tyler said, 80% of it is people praising her technique while you're just waiting to find out what exactly it is. I felt it was more of a 2 hour preview with endless testimonals. Also, actual screaming and her interpretation of screaming are two very different things. It's meant for touring guys who need to preserve their voice and want to sound like their favorite vocalists within a specific hc/metal scene. I'm happy with that side of my voice. What I'd like to learn is proper breathing and "sustain", and pitch control. - Fri, 26 Jun 2009 11:34am
Vincent F. Evans User Info... | I recommend the book "Vocal Development Through Organic Imagery," by William D. Leyerle. While its content is primarily aimed at "classical" singers, the concepts and exercises it contains are beneficial for all singers and all styles. - Wed, 12 Aug 2009 12:56pm
