| lorralien User Info... | Oh boy. Where to start. Ok, all I've been hearing about for a while now is how much everyone thinks Evolution sucks, and to go to Logan's for their monday night thing. For starters, the music was up way too loud (and I LOVE metal) to even sit inside. I'm guessing that could be one of the reasons everyone was outside on the patio. The clientele? Holy shit. I've never seen or smelt so many damn hippies in my fucking life. Dread locked patchouli pussy anyone? My friends and I were trying the whole time to find ONE person in the entire suckhole who had been laid in the last YEAR. I think the bartender and that Death guy were the only ones. heh heh Anyways, we ended up going to Evolution and had an awesome time. The place was packed and the drinks were cheap and un-drugged. I don't think thats too much volume as it's been much louder before... I could hear all my friends talkin to me so.. | Zippgunn User Info... | Sorry kids but any event on a Monday at Logan's that gets so out of hand that they would need to hire a "bouncer" (a first, I believe) is a fucked up waste of time. The attitude of some of you shitheads makes me laugh; if you want to hang out with people who look and smell just like you at a place with cheap booze why don't you all just join the army or something. The choice of Evo (cheap booze but lousy tunes and crowd) over Logan's metal night (good tunes, but, horrors, a diverse crowd) shows the true colours of a lot of you posers. I agree with the above post that says that he would rather stay at home and listen to records, but that doesn't fit in with the metal pack mentality. I like a lot of metal music; I like the power and the sheer exhilaration of it, but the typical metal crowd is one I would like to introduce to Mustard gas. In the good old days the surest way to have a venue swear to never again have bands at it was to put on a metal show; invariably there would be a dozen fights and all the urinals would get torn off the walls. The metal scene is so insular and splintered and none of the sub groups even seem to get along; I once got in trouble with a band because I accidently called them "death" metal when they were, they huffily informed me, "black" metal. I told them that I was sorry but I can't tell horse shit from cow shit either. Yeah I too hate the smell of patchoui but I also hate the smell of a hundred black leather jackets in a room too, and it would be almost tolerable if there were more than 1 chick for every 20 smelly guys there. | DEATH User Info... | Well Zipgun , I hear what youre saying, some metalheads can be elitest snobs, most of em yes are useually die hard BM fanatics and can be a little abrasive/elitest if you talk to them about music but, thats not the crowd coming in on mondays, the bouncer comment was brought about because of the "jocks" who came in the other monday, not because they wanted to listen to metal or anything, but purely because they were drunk and thought theyd find the smallest metalheads possible and start shit with them etc. When the owner is there he takes care of anyone like this but, if hes not there *and there shouldnt be reasons such as this to make him need to be around here but* the only way these nutbags get dealt with is 1. other people at the bar removing them, 2.calling the police or 3. having the bartender and myself do it... Bartenders and Djs shouldnt have to fight drunk trouble makers when doing their job... More to the point though, bored drunk jocks shouldn't come to bars to pick fights with small people but well, shit happens and thats what security is for... This does bother me as youd hope Logans would never need a bouncer just because the place is far from seedy, but people are assholes plain and simple... If people start getting hurt because the drunk jerkoffs who stumble in happen to swing fists before the bartender or I catch wind of them, and the owner doesn't happen to be hanging around keepin an eye out... well thats what concerns me... It was just one night and for the record noone has been hurt, but just knowing these types of people are coming in bothers me, and I dont blame anyone who wants to trash the guys for their actions. I seriously doubt Logan's will hire a bouncer, not unless the crowd becomes damn huge regularily, so I guess I get to hope on good people to do what they can if shit happens. | Zippgunn User Info... | I'm not really the biggest fan of hippies either; one of my main rules is "never trust a white guy with dreadlocks and a dog". A lot of people think that I'm a hippy which is funny to me but since I have long hair I understand their error. In the sixties being a hippie was quite a life statement; now it seems to be a fashion affectation for lazy flakes. I attended a "healing" on Saltspring a few years ago which was quite an eye (and nose) opener and believe me the bunch of them could have used a gallon or so of patchouli (smelly feet, ugh!). Having said all this I still have lots of "hippie" friends whom I tease mercilessly and they seem to take it in good humour which is more than I can say for most of the metal types I bug (man they get cranky FAST).
