| pooetry User Info... | I think it happens a lot. It happened to my friend a couple months ago at Legends. She wound up getting wheeled out across the dance floor in this fluorecent orange lawn chair thing with two seatbelts that crossed on her chest. Then she wound up in the hospital. It sucked but she looked kinda funny getting wheeled out in the chair through 200 half naked preppy kids who were dancing and groping each other across the dance floor. She was okay. | Brandon User Info... | when I go to the bar my drink never really leaves my hand. I might put it on a table while I am standing there, but I dont leave my drinks lying around. Not because it might get drugged, but I have witnessed "randoms" drinking other peoples booze. I finish my bevs before I do pretty much anything, other than cruise the bar. | Criss Crass User Info... | Hey Sour girl was it Thurs. that your friend was at EVO. My girlfriend put her drink down to go outside there and later that nite she looked totally fucked up. Huge pupils and she was acting a little weirded out. I think someone messed with her drink. Sounds like the same nite. | sour_Girl User Info... | Ya, it was on thursday night, and she had to work the next day too so she was pretty fucked. the thing is, i really like evo, and i thought that me and my friend were safe from that kind of thing there. we know all the regulars and usually everyone looks out for each other. but when my friend's drink got spiked, none of the staff there belived her and she kinda had to fend for herself... it's pretty sad really... | sour_girl User Info... | the main problem for my friend was that she is alergic to GHB and it was very painfull for her. I thought her spin was gonna leap out of her back. that's the worst thing about these people who spike other peoples drinks; they don't care who you are or what might happen to you. Also, if they had slipped it to her later and she had had more to drink, she would probably have gone into cardiac arrest. we're pretty sure we know who did it, but in the end it doesn't really matter. what are two drunk chicks at the bar gonna do about it? - Sun, 10 Aug 2003 5:21pm | ||

| JJ User Info... | Never mind that people have been spiking them, but what about people that go to bars and drink the unattended drinks?I never put my beer down until it's finished for that very reason. | pooetry User Info... | My friend (who got drugged) and I were talking about making a device that locks over your glass so that no one can drug it. It's a long shot idea, but ya never know. There was an article in the TC a while ago that talked about this. I guess it's happening all over the place from house parties to pubs to clubs. | Zippgunn User Info... | Sounds like maybe the Evo staff should have a strict "unattended drink" policy, where if they see a drink all by itself, even for a minute, it gets tossed. It would be interesting to explore the question of how liable the club is for this unfortunate phenomenon. | JJ User Info... | Can you imagine what some people would do if they came back from a smoke and the bar dumped thier drink cuz it sat there for a minute. Not a good idea. Obviously if they see someone tampering with a drink then ya they should call the cops, but come on people. We know this shit is going on, so hey I have an idea.....Finish your drink or leave it at the bar when you are going somewhere. | Zippgunn User Info... | Well, JJ, you can make light of this problem but at some point somewhere somebody's gonna die and then the shit really will hit the fan. If I owned a club and there was even the slightest possibility of my being held liable for such a disaster I would do as I said above. What if you get the bar to hold your drink while you go for a smoke and some shit subsequently spikes your drink (after you get it back) and nobody catches him/her? That's right it will look like the bartender did it. Once the bartender serves you your drink it's your responsibility to keep tabs on it; leave it with a friend or just drink in between smokes/dances (they do dance at Evo, don't they?). - Wed, 13 Aug 2003 11:13am | ||

All that I am saying is that be aware that this is happening and FINISH YOUR DRINK before you go for a smoke or go to the can. Dont leave it with friends because lots of times friends are drunk and flaky and take off. Be aware and Be smart. It's pretty flippin simple. Possibly bars could have a sign at the door that say Drinks have been spiked so don't leave drinks unattended. I don't understand why people leave their drinks anyways.
