| ML7Mike User Info... | Why would ya say that Zippy? There have been lots of metal shows all over this city for years that have gone off violence free. As opposed to some other popular local music genre's which have caused near riots in the past.. OAP hall comes to mind.. As does Bonehead's basement riot. And why is it the White Eagle became too expensive to rent? And as I recall the first time Big Fernwood shut its doors to bands for 5 or so years ago, all I remember is punk rock, copious amounts of alcohol, and a rumble. Yessir, more venues have shut their doors to bands in this city due to the antics of our friendly punk rock heathens ( :P hee-hee ) than the 'think before you act' metal crowd .. | MWPR User Info... | Noooo, tried not to... but...must... reply...auuggghhh!!! Oh Mike, you oh so responsible metaller(ist?), I remember that those fights at the OAP, Fernwood (there was no big/little back in the day whipersnappers) and the Rat's Nest were cause by "bangers," as we used to call'em, trying to fuck up punk shows. I seem to recall having short hair and being "wierd" made you a target; remeber piss alley and smacking the odd punk just for the fuck of it, or those oh so friendly Bay Boys. It wasn't until crossover happened that any metal was ok, and all the kids could play nicely together, mostly because rockers were assholes and jocks (who can be nice now oo it seems). Sorry, I couldn't help myself. It's nice the metallers are all so well behaved now. BTW, tounge is firmly in cheek, before you all get bitchy! Ha ha. - Tue, 12 Aug 2003 6:40pm | ||
| ML7Mike User Info... | Actually alot of that was before my time.. but I heard all about it actually, one of the first times I ever came to Victoria we were listening to Death on a ghetto blaster downtown, circa 1988 waiting for a bus back to the ferry.. Along comes a dude ( who later I knew to be Burt Oliveira ) and he starts tripping out on us about our tunes... scared the shit out of us cuz we didnt know him, and he kept spouting off about the bay boys and how they were all gonna fuck us up , cuz he hated our music .. I SWEAR HELLA on the bus... thats what I do when im drunk... catch a bus hoem from a party... man all you do is run your mouth "all you fuckers are fucked... lol" and then you blam everything... and you get off at your stop. man I could write for ages... anyway... so festival is a no go ? whats up with it. - Wed, 13 Aug 2003 1:06am | ||
