Message Board > General Chitchat > new server, new message board sucks ass! |
Spark User Info... | I for one, fucking hate this new log in system. Its garbage! Anon posts were really not that big of a deal and they allowed for people to express views which they might not otherwise. Sure the slagging posts were redundant but some of the topics, like the ones about "rasism" or "homosexuality" would not have been discussed so frankly. So to the new message board I say Fuck you! - Tue, 1 Jul 2003 1:08am
Wreaker of Havoc User Info... | I disagree. I have no problem being open about discussing how gay you are or what a racist you are...... - Tue, 1 Jul 2003 1:14am
Spark User Info... | Oh, reeker. your so defensive. overconfisating for something perhaps? - Tue, 1 Jul 2003 1:27am
Anonymous User Info... | I love it the way it is now. I have been able to post several times now and not get attacked by anons. If only it was this way a year ago. - Tue, 1 Jul 2003 2:12am
BBJones User Info... | Having to log in has pretty much rid this board of all the spineless cowards. You really think anonimity has made for great and meaningful discussion on this board? What a fucking joke! The only meaningful discussion came from people that actually give a shit about what they say. Give me a break man! Hiding who you are doesn't make anything better, it only allows people to be more of an asshole than they really are. Yeah I miss that too... moron - Tue, 1 Jul 2003 11:29am
Dog User Info... | Hey Spark, do you need a dictionary, or is that your style. Oh.......and the board says FUCK OFF, back at ya' - Tue, 1 Jul 2003 12:30pm

Zippgunn User Info... | Me, I didn't mind the anon posts; even posted that way a coupla times just so I wouldn't hurt any feelings (I'm opinionated yet sensitive). And I loved being slagged by faceless twerps. It will for sure cut down on the number of heated debates on this board, that's for sure. - Tue, 1 Jul 2003 1:08pm
thebeardog User Info... | Sounds like fellating fart battle dweeb is the asshole here! Fuck off asshole battle drone! - Tue, 1 Jul 2003 1:12pm

ROSS B AY User Info... | yeah i've gone blue in the fingers trying to get that one across. it's always funny when some dinkus talks shit anonymously and you say that, then they come back with "fuck you then" or "you're a fat loser"(not that i've ever had that happen to me...). - Tue, 1 Jul 2003 1:17pm
thebeardog User Info... | Right on you two! But some will never git it! - Tue, 1 Jul 2003 1:19pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | "oh yeah, well then fuck you ya fat loser..." - Tue, 1 Jul 2003 1:20pm

Dog User Info... | Hey "Felate the turd" you think you got the goods, you fucking twit, you look like an idiot. - Tue, 1 Jul 2003 2:42pm
Troutbreath User Info... | I can't get over feeling like I'm in my girlfriends grandparents livingroom balancing a cup of tea in a china cup wondering if I should dunk my biscuit. Uh, in the tea that is. - Tue, 1 Jul 2003 3:05pm
ticklefish User Info... | I like the new one, anon slagging can be tolerable, and it hasn't bugged me too much, but if this board is to succeed at being the "Victoria Scene" board, it needs to get the players in here, and most players stayed the hell away from the immaturity on this board, thus limiting all our options to make the scene better or to find people to play with. And I have no problem attaching my name to anything I have to say. - Tue, 1 Jul 2003 7:02pm
brooke User Info... | I don't mind the log in for the general chit chat but think it's harmful for the other categories. People from other cities who are seeking shows for instance, should be able to post without the hassle of registering. For show reviews I'm interested in knowing what everyone thought about a wide range of shows, not just the opinions of the few regular posters. Having to resgister, then log on discourages some people from posting. So I propose that the log in remains mandatory for general chit chat and posibly self-promotion but optional for the other catagories. - Wed, 2 Jul 2003 12:12am
Shaggy User Info... | Yeah, such a hassle to register once, login and click that little "remember me" box. Takes a whole 30 seconds max. - Wed, 2 Jul 2003 12:59am
Elliot User Info... | This is ridiculous. How can anyone defend the value of posting anonymously? You don't even have to have your email displayed. And how can your words have any merit if you won't even admit to saying them?? - Wed, 2 Jul 2003 2:56am
ticklefish User Info... | I wonder how many people visit other BBS sites around the internet? This was the only one I knew of that allowed anon posting, so it is hardly revolutionary that they changed format. The reason other boards do it is for the same reason we did it here, you can't have a discussion about the simplest issue without morons who like to just say "that is dumb" without posting a name, or obviously much more inflammatory things than that. I use BBS's for skiing, home recording (about 6-7 of them for that alone), gear sites for guitars, mics etc,. In all I am on about 10 different BBS's and this was the only one that allowed anon posting, and it was also the only one where it was impossible to ask a simple question or have a simple discussion about something without some fuckwad posting "you're a fag" 10 times in a row. It's the internet for fucks sake, and you could be in Soweto for all I care and post on this board and fill out your email address and click a box or two and participate all you like in the Victoria scene, but I don't want to have to put up with the shit that we have had here . You can't put a posting about anything in the musicians wanted section without someone slagging it, which means most musicians in town don't want to use it, which therefore means, it isn't very effective if the only people here are the ones with thick enough skins to take it, or young enough to not care. There are a million BBS's for general bullshit talk, I think we need to make this the one where Vic's music scene can really take off like it has the potential to do. - Wed, 2 Jul 2003 11:22am
XY-SATAN User Info... | Fuckin A , ticklefish ! - Wed, 2 Jul 2003 7:04pm
ticklefish User Info... | see, even Satan is on my side!!!! damn! - Wed, 2 Jul 2003 10:03pm
Spark User Info... | Well, I knew this one would start a heated debate! Yeah, I got pissed off originally because I went into the musicans wanted section and wrote a reply to someone and the board would allow me to post the message. So I go to log in, go though the steps and shit and afterwards i'm "logged in" but I still couldn't post because i wasn't "confirmed". now I talked with nev and we sorted it out, awesome. But if I were joe-blow coming here for the first time looking for people to play with, I wouldn't bother with this shit. I Really apperiated the accessability (if you don't like my spelling, go FUCK yourself) that the original board had. - Thu, 3 Jul 2003 12:57am
Trailer Park Boy Julian User Info... | Ha! Sounds like a case of "give me convenience or give me death"... I ask you, what's the world comin' to when people don't have the patience to do something that takes all of 5 minutes max.... - Thu, 3 Jul 2003 1:10am
brooke User Info... | You say convenience, we say accessibility... Some people are hesitant to give out their email address on the internet, some people are just lazy. But I'm still interested in what they thought of a show. Y'know? - Thu, 3 Jul 2003 1:55am
ticklefish User Info... | Okay, this is a gross simplification, so if I offend anyone, well too bad! I think that there are two types of people here: those who think of the internet as "something that isn't in the real world" (Type A), and those who think of this as an extension of their world (Type B). Type A people bitch that logging in is a violation of their freedom, and that they should be able to say whatever they like without having to own up to saying it. Most type A people are younger and are far less concerned with who they piss off, especially if they can do it anonymously. Type B people see the internet in the same way they see a phone, or a bar: somewhere you go to meet people to play witth/ask questions/share info. Many type B's have made numerous connections via work and in our recreational live via the internet, and think that some level of etiquette is important. This is like my living room, but it is everyone's living room, so we all have to share the space and be respectful of it. Think of it with this analogy: if you were sitting at a bar having a conversation with some people about an issue, or standing up in a room to say "Hi I'm Bill, I play guitar and would like to know if there is someone who would like to play bass in my band". If people stand up to talk back, cool. If people shout out their answers, cool. But when people hide under white sheets or under a table, or shout through the window and then run away going "you're a big fag"....it's the same thing with anon posting. We all have balls the size of Texas when noone knows who we are, but having the balls to own up to your opinion, that is another matter altogether. Logging in is no different than actually going to the table at the meeting room and grabbing a name tag and a writing down your name so the people in the room know who you are, or like going to hang up your coat and getting your hand stamped at the bar. If you are that lazy, why the hell would anyone want to be in a band with someone who doesn't have a minute to spare once to login? "Sorry, my E string is broken this week, I haven't had time to change it, it takes too long" - Thu, 3 Jul 2003 11:32am
Dog User Info... | five minutes, try five seconds. And as far as email goes, get an account at Yahoo, Hotmail, or anywhere else. This is not an issue. - Thu, 3 Jul 2003 12:59pm
Dave Noisy User Info... | Hey Brooke - you could set up an open message board on your own site, and link to it from the topic..tho i bet you'll change your mind when every other post is "your a fagget moran!!" ;) I much prefer this new system. This is the first time i've posted a veg-related event and not had a bunch of defensive meat-eaters telling me that my shoes are leather and humans can't live without cow milk and flesh. I'm on a bunch of message boards, and run several, and leaving them 'open' is an invitation to the drivel that populated this one. Good job guys! I might actually start to read messages here again! - Thu, 3 Jul 2003 1:05pm
Spark User Info... | Okay, not bad arguements. but Im not an anon slagger. I always post my handle and often my e-mail and don't waste time telling people thier band sucks or whatever. Yes, convienece is important. A lot of us check our e-mail or post a messege during a break at work. Some add thier thoughts about a show just before passing out. The responses like "if you don't like it, don't post" are very hypocritical. Weren't you the ones complaining about the original board? - Thu, 3 Jul 2003 8:27pm
