ballz andy User Info... | let me get this straight emo stands for emotional?? are there really folks out there that go around saying " im in an emotonal band" ?????? what the hell is that dude? - Sat, 28 Jun 2003 2:46pm
KnifeGhost User Info... | There'll be other people that can explain this better than I'm about to.... So, somewhere some time in the '80s, a bunch of guys in hardcore bands got bored of being hardcore all the time and started singing about their feelings.... Hence, it was emotional.... That got shortened to emo.... So now you had a form of music with loud heavy guitars and emotional lyrics.... It was called emo.... That form of music has evoolved to what is now called emo, still with loud heavy guitars and emotional lyrics..... So, when a person says they're in an emo band, they're not really saying they're in an "emotional" band, but that they're in a band that plays a kind of music called emo that got it's name as an abbreviation of "emotional".... - Sat, 28 Jun 2003 3:08pm
gleamer User Info... | (read: "I do too much E to be in a straight edge band but the raver kids don't like me because I wear black all the time.") - Sat, 28 Jun 2003 3:44pm
Walker Texas Ranger User Info... | Emo is a crappy pre-concieved gimmick, just like grunge was in the mid 90's. It's all hype. I pity anyone who would actually fall for such nonsense. Though I do admit watching emo kids dance is pretty funny. They look like they're being forced to by gunpoint. - Sat, 28 Jun 2003 7:22pm
Greasy Lary User Info... | Emo music is fucking gay. When i used to go to shows in the 90's, they were rad. I remember watching Dayglo play at wastland and seeing my buddy Glen puke all over the bouncers. Fun times. People used to mosh and shit. Once the millenium was comming( like 97'-99'), I stopped attending the punk shows(cause if you all remember the scene died quite a bit) and started going to raves doing lots of crystal meth. That got pretty tired and i turned into a geek, neither attending punk or rave parties. Now its 2003, and I have been going to shows again. I tell ya almost every band i have seen is "emo". Good music composition, but shitty screamy and whinney vocals. "aww my girlfriend just dumpped me and Im really sad" HAHAHA. So No props to the "emo" bands. Reattach your balls, and learn to write music which has beats faster than 90 Beats per min. Call me old now, but hey, i get off on fast beats and loud guitars, with vocals telling you to fuck off. - Sat, 28 Jun 2003 7:42pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | emo's good fer one thing - guaging how good other music is. if there's no horrible atrocity, then there's no pure sweet truth. - Sat, 28 Jun 2003 9:38pm
Tito Santana User Info... | emo's dead.... you're next. - Sun, 29 Jun 2003 9:25pm
KnifeGhost User Info... | "Emo is a crappy pre-concieved gimmick, just like grunge was in the mid 90's. It's all hype." Is that why all the emo shows are in the bigger venues, with major labels sponsoring them? - Sun, 29 Jun 2003 10:26pm
