SlowBurn | I have never seen or heard these guys, but their name has popped up enough times, so I thought I should check out their site and have a listen. I'm kind of torn because I cannot stand Our Lady Peace and the one download that worked sounded just like Our Lady Peace (or any other grown man who is on the verge of crying and who's voice warbles between falsetto and tenor). However, I won't write them off over one song and I like to support local talent. I have heard that they're good live, so I will check them out and hope that I'm not watching the twin brother of "Whining" Rain Maida. - Mon, 16 Jun 2003 7:22pm
Mac User Info... | I don't wish to sound mean but I'm sorry,I don't think they've got the goods ( Oh,btw the engineering on the album can best be described as "Amateur")I don't owe anyone a living. When I Pay to see a performer I want them to blow me away.Is that too much to ask? - Mon, 16 Jun 2003 7:51pm
mike User Info... | Armchair Cynics are doing very well. I am a huge Our Lady Peace fan, and I dont see the similarity. But then again, my opinion means nothing. I like em - Mon, 16 Jun 2003 8:13pm
The dude | "Oh,btw the engineering on the album can best be described as "Amateur"" Come on, you've got to be kidding me. I haven't heard a better sound come out of any other local bands releases. The sound on that CD really captures them well.....oh and it's true, it's true....there live show kicks some ass pal, so unless you want one of them bobbin` up and down on your pole, who knows what the hell you're looking for!!! - Mon, 16 Jun 2003 9:52pm
The Dude | Mike, have you had a chance to check them out yet?? and no shit, Our Lady Peace?? Got me! - Mon, 16 Jun 2003 10:15pm
SlowBurn | Unless I want one of them bobbin up and down on my pole? What the fuck is that? And yeah, the vocalist (on the one song I listened to) did sound like Maida from Our Lady Peace. - Mon, 16 Jun 2003 10:59pm

Advocate | No no no.. the singer sounds like Rob Thomas from Matchbox twenty. No wait.. just like Eddie Vedder. I think he is ripping off everyone at the same time. Their $5 shows are certainly a rip off too. For the cost of only 15 of their shows you could get blown away by a non amatuer band from some far away place singing about the woes of being white and making millions in a screwed up world. Seriously though, for a local independent these guys are producing some great material in their genre and earning some good exposure from a generally supportive media. Of course the alt types dis them.. that's their job in life. Mainstream is evil. Don't you know. More rotten recordings than armchair cynics have include most of all works made in Victoria. Everyone here sucks. Just ask Mac. Move to Vancouver or another big city and you will become good. - Tue, 17 Jun 2003 1:39am
