Areo | Is everyone going to the bar show or the all ager?? Personally I think I'll go to the bar show- for the booze- also the sound sucks at Pandora. What kind of sound system will there be at Pandora?? PS Did they really get signed for $3 million? - Wed, 6 Nov 2002 10:52pm
prozy luva | Well, considering it's HHH, the all ages will sound like shit. the bar show will sound like shit. but have fun at whichever fag fest you choose to attend. - Thu, 7 Nov 2002 2:07am
wronskian | i won't be in victoria, so no. i probably wouldn't go even if i were back home by then. - Thu, 7 Nov 2002 9:26am
Jo Fancy User Info... | I can't say i'll be at either, but methinks that any band worth a supposed 3million playing an all ages show comes with something of a huge fee. If anything i'de say go to the allages show, so as not to leave poor Malcolm (I assume) in debt for years to come. Or don't. - Thu, 7 Nov 2002 10:38am
Anonymous | They aren't my thing, I'm not into their music (that style of music anyway) but they are from Vic and they are working fucking hard. The more people from this town to get out in the world and make a name for themselves (and Vic by association) the better. Support the local people man, and if any of you want to get out and tour NA you'll get it back, it's the way it works, scenes that work are ones where people decide to stop jerking off about how lame the local one is and start making it work, the punks in this town are good for that (HHH is not punk, to me anyway, just bringing up one aspect of something I think is working here), very supportive. If that kind of attitude was applied to all music here this would be a very well known city. - Thu, 7 Nov 2002 2:27pm
ML7Mike | I think its great to finally see a local band sign with a major. Way to go HHH! - Thu, 7 Nov 2002 2:46pm
Anonymous | why can't the victoria music scene be about supporting each other for what someone decides to do, rather than slagging on each other? it seems that this board is notorious for that... - Thu, 7 Nov 2002 3:22pm
RSBF | i agree........ it's really sad actually. i mean the more our local bands and talent get exposure, the more likely the big-wigs will pay attention to Victoria and bother making trips out to our gigs and such. it doesn't matter what genre or who it is - we should all be supporting the talent brewing around here and network with each other. i don't know, it only makes sense to me. - Thu, 7 Nov 2002 3:32pm
johhny | Im happy for HHH, getting the money to make a real album. Besides, it's the only way they will ever sound good. On a real album. With lot's of digitally enhanced crap. Oh well. They play the kinda music the kids like to hear. - Thu, 7 Nov 2002 6:15pm
geek_freak | I think I'll have fun at HHH's show. If anything, it's a chance to dance crazy and wear retarded clothes without looking out of place. (Not that I don't do that anyways...) - Thu, 7 Nov 2002 6:37pm
jay brown User Info... | six million plus royalties, for two albums actually. - Thu, 7 Nov 2002 7:21pm
Areo | $6 million?? plus royalties??? no way!!- how do you know Jay Brown?? Also- All you haters out there... Its easy to hate on bands that are successful- and not so easy to diss bands that aren't successful because they suck. Seems to me that people often deliberately listen to bands that no one has ever heard of- for the very reason that no one knows the band and can diss them for it. Pretty sad reason to listen to music -cough, crust punk cough... I dont care: I like the Heat ... I even like the Hives ... I even like Nickelback... (okay, not Nickelback- but I do like Simple Plan) - Thu, 7 Nov 2002 7:48pm
Scott Laming User Info... | Heh HHH being interviewed on the fox right now, just while we're on the topic - Thu, 7 Nov 2002 8:36pm
freak | I heard Little Hannah are also getting signed to hot hot heats management/booking agency. If so that is more exposure for victoria. - Fri, 8 Nov 2002 12:16am
Jim Bean | little hannah is great if you like matthew good. - Fri, 8 Nov 2002 7:12pm
REVLONN | "Support the local people man, and if any of you want to get out and tour NA you'll get it back, it's the way it works, scenes that work are ones where people decide to stop jerking off about how lame the local one is and start making it work ..." excuse me? QUESTION: since when does checking out a hot hot heat show have anything to do with: a) fostering community (major labels are great for that, hey?) b) getting the proverbial kids stoked on doing their own thing (rather than doing - ahem - lines) c) any real "victoria scene" at all, for that matter ANSWER: the year 2000. hot hot heat, as a band, have outgrown victoria, dude. they no longer hold much relevance to kids with any vision or sense of context, i'll tell you that. THAT SAID ... fuck, it's undeniable that those four guys have worked their asses off for all this attention and success. MORE POWER TO THEM. i sincerely hope they're having the time of their lives. honestly, rock on, dudes. MY POINT - don't talk about hot hot heat, in their current incarnation, as if it's your civic duty to go see them and "support the scene". it ain't. - Fri, 8 Nov 2002 9:03pm
Areo | Good point revlon. Plus, what the fuck is the point of seeing any shows, where you dont necessarily like the music, in order to "help the scene". Bands don't want your sympathy. - Sun, 10 Nov 2002 4:54am
ROSS B AY User Info... | Yes they do. Oh fuck do they ever. - Sun, 10 Nov 2002 7:57am
Anonymous | you don't have to go to all of their shows to support them, just don't slag the shit out of them on some shitty message board... - Sun, 10 Nov 2002 12:04pm
Mr. Hell User Info... | Heh. This pointless bickering is laughable. The band at the center of this debate doesn't give a fuck as they have achieved their dream, so why should any of us? All we can hope for is that they point their A&R shmuck in Victoria's direction and a few more bands benefit as well. Don't like the music, don't go to the show. Simple. - Sun, 10 Nov 2002 7:24pm
Anonymous | they got paid 3 mil so we gotta pay MORE to see them? - Sun, 10 Nov 2002 9:03pm
kittykat666 | 3mil, 5mil whatever.... who cares what they gt paid, and if ticket prices go up to see them so be it. Just b/c they are from Victoria doesn't mean they owe us anything. And if it was any of your bands getting signed to a major label don't tell me you'd argue with ticket prices. It is a business isn't it? If you like a band you pay the money to see them, if you don't like them, then don't go... simple as that. Furthermore, I agree with the comment about this message board being used to slag people, bands, venues whatever. A little ridiculous don't you think? But, that is what you get with small town mentality. "We do hate it when our friends become successful". Don't we? - Mon, 11 Nov 2002 12:39am
joeshmo | I sure hope those a&r schmucks give the rest of us a chance-specially cause hhh use vanc isl. as a selling point.... "We're from an island so we're a bunch of tight-pants wearing weirdos"!!! - Mon, 11 Nov 2002 3:32am
lulu | kittykat666 if you are going to be so lame to quote a BAD morrissey song get it right. --> "Some girls are bigger than others" - Sat, 16 Nov 2002 12:03am
King Bong User Info... | The Band thing is fucking HARD work..HHH worked HARD to get that deal and good for them they deserve everthing that comes from that hard work! All the sour assholes on this board WISH they were in the band..and living the dream.. Bitter sad losers one and all. Attention to the Victoria scene is good for everybody..simple as that.. Good Luck HHH ........have a fun ride!!!! Sticky Kola - Sat, 16 Nov 2002 1:31am
. | you guys sound like a bunch of old men. shut the fuck up about HHH and just go to the show. -how much were ticket prices for these type of all ages shows back in the 80's? the same price!! everything else has gone up in price, why can't a ticket go up a few bucks once in a while??? - Sat, 16 Nov 2002 4:58am
Tanya Harding's Rebar | I hear their deal was for 7.5 billion, a semi-trailer truck full of Hot Hot Californian crack whores, a bucket of Hot Hot wings, a couple of boxes of Expo 86 T-Shirts, 7000 fruit roll-ups, 9 one ounce bags of cocaine, a 1971 Bentley, Alanis Morisette's circa 1995 panties, 3 cases of Captain Morgans spiced Rum, a video game that pits them against the Wu-Tang Clan in Mario Land, a converted 81' winnebago with a disco ball and a tow along ice rink, 5 snowboards on which Jeniffer Lopez has urinated and autographed, 1000 Costco 3-packs of lean no salt bacon, A copyrighted recording of a Brad Pitt fart, 75 boxes of that new tissue with cream in it so your nose doesn't chafe and last but not least, Gordon Downie must lend them his lucky porcelain doll collection for at least one week per year. C'mon people, if you want to post the facts then really, post the FACTS. - Sat, 16 Nov 2002 9:58am
Tanya Harding's Rebar | Sorry - I forgot to mention the clause in their contract stipulating that if the band collectively fuck more than three thousand people (male or female) in less than one month, they earn an additional 7 billion dollars. As well, if one of them replaces Goalie Curtis Joseph and consequently help the Red Wings to repeat, they will recieve an extra 7 billion dollars. Furthermore, if they are willing to smuggle in Chinese or Mexican immigrants in their winnebago, they will recieve 12 blue whale gall bladders to use at their own discretion and a pair of Sketchers each. - Sat, 16 Nov 2002 10:19am
Tanya Harding's Rebar | And a pink ribbon - Sat, 16 Nov 2002 10:26am
Dr.LOAD User Info... | HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! That rocked! - Sat, 16 Nov 2002 11:30am
Sleez-e | these guys are prissy, effeminate assholes! I can't stand Hot hot heat. major fucking attitude, with their pouting faces etc.."fuck off." - Sat, 16 Nov 2002 11:45am
Anonymous | sooooooooo many jealous fucks in this town. Don't bother trying to convince me otherwise your attempts just solidify my beliefs. Get a life, HHH has one and not because their get money but because they're doing what they love. - Sat, 16 Nov 2002 12:21pm
HoooHaaaa | Tonight they play with the commie punks.. interesting.. - Sat, 16 Nov 2002 1:20pm
BenJammin User Info... | Uh, I just got back. HHH = mediocre abstract shit. AK47 was rad, but I don't like anything I can't mosh to. - Sun, 17 Nov 2002 2:10am
