Kelly Noble User Info... | Hi im 14 and tryin like freakin hell to do somthin with my singing voice. I really want to start with a vocal career now so i get a head start. Only thing is i dont know where to start any suggestions? - Sat, 17 May 2003 2:07pm
Anonymous | Do scales, lessons wouldn't hurt. I have seen people go in for lessons and after a month they sound twice as good, if not more. - Sat, 17 May 2003 2:10pm
Adrenaline Animal | If your school still offers it, take Choir and/or Band classes, Although they may not be doing the style of music you like, both will start to give you an understanding of music and musical theory. Also private lesson are a good Idea. - Sat, 17 May 2003 2:12pm
Laprider User Info... | good point about school choir....singing is about breath control....lie on your back and really try to breath from your diaphragm. Practice breathing deep and singing long tones on your back... be aware of the power that comes from below...not your throat. Its also always good to practice in a mirror. #1 singing mistake is to lift your chin up higher as the notes get higher. This only closes off your "instrument" keep yer chin down and try some high notes.always warm up your voice....a good singer should be able to sing for hours or is doing something wrong.! - Sat, 17 May 2003 2:25pm

Gman | Also, try to find your own 'voice'. Advice and lessons are a good place to start, but don't let anyone tell you that you sing 'wrong'! G - Tue, 20 May 2003 12:47am
Anonymous | Another great way to learn (and many have done this) is to lock yourself in a room with a sterio and crank it up. Sing along with your fav bands. It will give you the ear training that you need, as well as develope your power. The louder the better. And it doesn't cost you anything! - Tue, 20 May 2003 1:26pm
ender60 User Info... | k!! maybe not sing wrong but use your vocal chords improperly??? its no secret to anyone that if you abuse your singing voice you stand a chance of losing it!! your voice is an instrument like any other, play a guitar with a hacksaw and its not gonna last long!! some examples are joe elliot--def leppard--required surgery on his vocal chords brian johnson--AC/DC--saw him live, his voice crapped out continually allanna myles--saw her live, lost!! her voice and the list goes on!! learn properly first then you can sing whatever you want as long as you want without thrashing your voice!! you can put new strings on a guitar!!! - Tue, 20 May 2003 10:09pm
Shaggy User Info... | You forgot Geddy Lee in there ender. He as well had to have surgery to remove vocal nodes. Best suggestion I can make is get into a school choir, or any choir really. Or hit the conseravtory of music and sign up for some voice lessons. - Tue, 20 May 2003 10:30pm
DistortedRiffs | all great advice. Voice lessons can do wonders, so can singin in a choir. 3 yaers ago, I couldnt put 2 notes together and be in key with my voice. Now I'm a background vocalist doing chord harmonies with my lead singer. I tell ya, practice practice practice. When your singin along with your CDs, be sure to be in key and on pitch. If not, your only hurting yourself. If theres a part you cant get, rewind it, and keep tying till ya get it. Play notes and chords on an instrument and sing along with them. move to scales and what not. Approach it as if you were learning any other instrument. - Tue, 20 May 2003 10:48pm
