PFFFT to the capital Pee | Underblow do just that. Blow. oooh they were BOTM, so what, were the Zone desperate? Running out of bands? Whose putting out some CD's soon, I want to hear some new bands on that station, since my boss forces me to listen to it. How bout playing some metal on that station? HAHAHAHAHAH YAH RIGHT! System OF A Down and Metallica is about as good as it gets there. How about a weekly metal hour? HAHAH yah right. And playing Warped Tour does not a record deal gaurantee. Power to em though. - Sun, 18 May 2003 2:55pm
Anonymous | anyone from the band have any input? - Sun, 18 May 2003 5:53pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Playing the Warped Tour might not guarantee a major label deal, but at least you get to play in front of a lot of people! Actually The Zone doesn't look for bands, you have to submit a press kit and fill in a bunch of info, then if you are chosen as band of the month the radio station takes you into the studio and you record 2 or 3 of your tracks professionally so that they sound decent on the station. Undergo might not be a good band, but there's one of their tracks I really liked, sorta reminded me of Tool less the professional recording sound. If they took that a step further, they would sound awesome. - Sun, 18 May 2003 8:39pm
Elementary My Dear Griphin. | You are almost correct Griph. They have approached a few bands that havent submitted demos, based on those particular bands status or impact on the cities scene. Id elaborate, but its really not my place to do so :) - Sun, 18 May 2003 8:58pm
Anonymous | If you really want to know what the band is up to why dont you goto their site? On there it says they're playing warped tour and says nothing about a a record deal. I'd imagine that if they got a record deal they'd say something about it on their site. - Sun, 18 May 2003 9:32pm
Adrenaline Animal | No. I will explain how the band of the month thing works, just so you all know. The zone will either come to you or you can go to them, in our case they came to us and asked us if we would be interested. The radio station does not pay for and recordings, no money exchanges hands (ie they do this for free), as a working band you already need to have some pro sounding recordings. the only thing you record there is promo spots for the show they set up and sponser for you, plus you get your band put in rotaion in their play list for a month, which in some of the bands cases has helped them out by people getting to hear about their band that otherwise wouldn't of. It seems alot of you are getting this mixed up with rocktoria, the two are completley different. Any other questions?? I'll answer them for ya - Sun, 18 May 2003 11:39pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Rocktoria was a good idea, it's just too bad the bands who appeared on it never got far shortly after. But it's not the fault of the radio station, rather, those bands never really did much in the way of promoting there sound. Something like Rocktoria might be a joke to some people, but it's something to add to your portfolio when your shipping your demo out to labels. - Mon, 19 May 2003 2:45pm
Anonymous | I hate almost all radio friendly crap that some idiot decided to label music. Although there are exceptions ... rarely. Since radio friendly crap is cool, some bands in victoria play that style. If you are a radio friendly crap band than the zones band of the month is a good thing in my opinion as the masses of brainless idiots who like radio friendly crap will get exposure to your radio friendly crap. I see nothing wrong with the zone's band of the month and I think it is an excellent opportunity for some bands and I will not insult the band of the month program, but wouldn't it be nice if it wasn't crap? who wouldn't think it would be great to turn on the radio and hear "this band of the month goes to a talented young group who have just released their demo, Gallow's end" or better yet "this band has been around since before tv and now they get to be this months band of the month, listen up for the hit track pyro by meatlocker 6, I mean 7" - Mon, 19 May 2003 2:50pm
Anon386 | The metal station can promote the metal bands with their own band of the month.. No metal station? How come? Because the masses are too stupid to appreciate metal. About as stupid as saying metal listeners are idiots for liking metal. I think the zone could/should add a hardcore hour or something to their pogramming. It's out of their format but not too far off. - Mon, 19 May 2003 3:28pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | The reason that you don't hear a lot of local bands on radio is because the band doesn't have the sound that fits there playlist. There a business, and what they play doesn't put a dent in their ad revenue, least that's how The Q works. Plus, do you hear a lot of metal acts on The Zone?!? - Mon, 19 May 2003 11:30pm
