Wow. Sounds like a member of mensa for sure. The Cactus club is like a secret headquarters for people with amazing amounts of depth and intelligence.

"Do you like Huey Lewis and the news? Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83,I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consimante professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humour. In '87, Huey released Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself." - Thu, 14 Aug 2008 5:22pm

At least she's being honest. Most roommates just allow petty "differences" to pile up. Oh and most of them aren't "real people" either. - Fri, 15 Aug 2008 12:29am

Being honest doesn't negate the fact that she's a slobbering depraved set of meat curtains.

And I'm not just saying that because I'm fat, balding and can't afford $645. - Fri, 15 Aug 2008 10:20am

She ended her post with "ciao".

Anyways, Cactus Club has TERRIBLE food. Just awful. The only reason to ever go there is to look at the staff. Other than that, if I was single, I'd move in, even if I already had a place.

Although I'd need to see pictures first.

I disagree safeway is the worst, but in all fairness I would have agreed before I lived by the Fairways at gorge & tillicum. - Fri, 15 Aug 2008 7:30pm

Totally, try comparing Oak Bay Safeway to Gorge/Tillicum Fairway....

Its like a palace compared to a shack. Its perfect if I have to pick up milk though... - Fri, 15 Aug 2008 9:10pm Edited: Fri, 15 Aug 2008 9:11pm

My father-in-law got the seafood section of Oak Bay Safeway closed down a few years ago, due to improper cleaning. I agree with Trev. I'd shop at Fat Choy before I'd spend money in a safeway.

Thrifty's>Fairways>Safeway. - Fri, 15 Aug 2008 10:14pm

Yeah, well "a few years ago" I heard far more nightmarish stories about Fairways' meat department.

For three years all I could digest was chocolate boost and iv fluids. I had to re-learn how to eat, and have spent the last ten years introducing different foods back into my diet. That is why I'm so opinionated about food.

I'm working on not being such a "post happy idiot". - Sat, 16 Aug 2008 12:09am

Endeløs is one of my least favourite posters on here, yet every time he zings someone I just want to go in for a high five.

I think this ad was somewhere between tongue-in-cheek, honest, and half-jokingly self-centered. I think we'd all prefer to live with someone we like and respect. And I guess, for some people, that means people who never grew out of the high school hierarchy mentality. You have to admit that whenever you go to a club in this city, it's swarming with people who could have potentially posted this. I checked the ad out and the decoration is particularly hideous (zebra print shower curtains? please...) so that was a laugh on its own.

I have nothing against any particular grocery store. Who cares? Why do we feel a need to rank places that are nearly identical? As for Cactus Club, the place is sort of overpriced, but the yam fries are delicious and the male bathroom is just plain awesome. - Sat, 16 Aug 2008 2:59am

"Why do we feel a need to rank places that are nearly identical?"

because some places, while on the outside seem similar; the product CAN be ALOT different. Take meat(s) for example; Thrifty's has a different meat selection and generally fresh(er) than their counterparts(fairway, safeway) but then the prices are HEAVILY different. Some places are less hygenic than others etc... the list goes on about "differences" and why we feel a need to rank places that are nearly identical. I dont like getting sick from food that I just bought; and neither should anyone else.

As for the cactus club; If the "yam fries" are the only highlight out of a "trendy" place as such... it doesn't speak highly for the food they actually have to cook. The cactus club is shite; plain and simple. Over priced; poorly cooked, and even the service is pretencious at times. When I spend over a hundred dollars on dinner; i EXPECT decent service... not some 2 bit waitress tossing plates on a table and bringing us a bill in the middle of our meal. - Sat, 16 Aug 2008 10:24am

My favorite part, "exhilarating vibe of downtown Victoria"

YES! That really sums it up for me.

I used to work at a Fairways and will NEVER shop there. The shit they've gotton away with is worse then the shit they've been busted for. - Sat, 16 Aug 2008 7:25pm

I used to work at the Oak Bay Slaveway, it sucked.

Whoever made this ad clearly made it as a joke.

Back when I was looking for a place, I stumbled upon quite a few "Female roommate wanted, share a bed with me, no rent".... Or.... "Must be fit, busty, red or blonde haired, (no brunettes!) share queen sized bed with me- (no hidden agenda ladies I'm not a creep lol)" - Sat, 16 Aug 2008 7:33pm

That girl's ad reflects the majority of Victorias vacuous, plastic, pop culture influenced girls...if you live for shopping and pride yourself on being 2 skirt inches away from a whore and a cactus club server chances are you fall in that category.
I can't wait to see the ad she posts 20 years from now when daddies cash flow has gone to shoes and other frivolous purchases, her looks have wrinkled away in a pool of aveda makeup, her steroid pumping boyfriend leaves her for a younger plastic doll and somewhere in that sad, empty void of a brain a flicker of a thought sais "YOUR LIFE WAS POINTLESS"
I've seen bugs that have more of a reason to live than her. - Fri, 3 Oct 2008 12:43am
