GibsonGuy User Info... | Hey anyone know where I can get a half decent paint job for my Mustang at a resonable price? Ive checked around town at various body shops and dealerships and they all seem to come around $4000+ which isnt much more than my car is worth. Ive got about $2000 so if you know of someone gimme a shout, cheers.... - Tue, 22 Jul 2008 2:14pm
[email protected] User Info... | Honestly , those quotes are accurate in order to get a proper paint job. If you go cheap it will honestly show. (at least within a couple years) Instead of getting a cheap "Maacco" style paint job. Perhaps sell your car and find a similar priced one with well kept paint. I think this would be your best bet. - Tue, 22 Jul 2008 10:32pm
GibsonGuy User Info... | I realize you get what you pay for but Im sure there must be guys around that can do decent work for much less. The main reason they charge what they do because they hold ICBC accredidation and deal mostly with claims, not your average Joe just wanting to spruce up their car. I love my car and dont wish to sell it for at least a couple more years, if at all. Why would I want to buy someone elses used car and its unknown problems just over some paint? Cheers... - Wed, 23 Jul 2008 3:43am
stew User Info... | this is the technique im going to use to re paint my van near the end of summer. Ive seen quite a few excellent results, I guess the only trade off is the amount of time your willing to invest. The key I guess is a lot of wet sanding. moparts thread: http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=2331682&page=0&fpart=1&vc=1 Good Step by Step Tutorial http://www.rickwrench.com/index79master.htm?http://www.rickwrench.com/50dollarpaint.html - Wed, 23 Jul 2008 1:35pm Edited: Wed, 23 Jul 2008 1:38pm
jackass User Info... | A huge part of the cost of painting is the prep work. You can save yourself some $$$ if you do it yourself. Strip the old paint, fill in dents, sand and prime, etc. - Thu, 24 Jul 2008 12:40pm
Spinvis User Info... | Bear Mountain Autobody is an excellent place... got my car painted there but its super quality work, so you might want to phone around... - Thu, 24 Jul 2008 12:43pm Edited: Thu, 24 Jul 2008 12:45pm
Matteus User Info... | for the prep work??? if it matters at all, I used air line stripper to remove powder coating from my bike and that's pretty tough paint. not sure if you can use it on a car, but man does it EAT paint. got it from duncan auto parts. - Fri, 25 Jul 2008 1:36am
