| Anonymous | The Zone, which is run by the Q anyway, has the Band of the month, which is basically the same thing. A band is picked, gets a showcase show, and gets to record a few songs. | What?? | Seems there is a lot of "how do I get things done around here without doing anything" or "we're too good for the crap around here but we aren't moving" or "we're so good the major labels, distributors and radio stations should be breaking down doors to get us; so we aren't going to waste our time playing and promoting ourselves in the meantime". The general feeling seems to be "the world will find us". The music biz is a business. It means you must compete for every dollar you get - not just with other bands or music but with computer games, films, beer, or anything people spend their hard earned money on. | _Griphin_ User Info... | I've heard about the submission process the Zone uses to sign up band of the month, it requires a lot of paperwork. (heh... I should submit information for Gallows End :) Even if the Zone does record a few songs from the band o' the month, do they give the band any resources to further their careers? I should get ahold of the station manager and get some more info about this. Wouldn't it be nice if they released a compilation, though I don't think they have much time or the resources to release a comp. (how did the previous compilations do that the Q came out with?!?) An all 'real' metal and punk radio station would do very well as there is still no fm's in the reception area that would play good music. I know more people that hate the zone and their music than actually like it. | d | The band of the month is not a contest. It's to showcase hard working bands. You send Al Ford a package and he goes through them. You don't get to record anything with them. | The Q | Hey, we like only playing the CD's we like. We have about 25 CD's and keep playing the same songs over and over thru our great big antenna and bore the living shit out of Victoria. All over this beautiful city we're blaring Barney Bentall and Tom Cochran and (for some fucking unknown reason Sass Jordan) and we guarantee to bore you to tears. Oh, every now and then we find ONE new CD like the new Big Yellow Taxi song (27th version) and we enjoy playing that 4 or 5 times a day cuz we KNOW Victoria loves it.
