Hey...
Me and some friends are throwin together a band, and we need money for equipment. I'm not sure we can put on a show with my peavy rage 158, and our bassists super mini epiphone, and our vocalist just screamin... We are too young to get real jobs (at 14 years...). We have considered doing bottle drives for bogus organizations (YUNISEPH,etc.)or even babysiting (the babysitters club... hell yeah!lol) etc. But still. What can I do?
I need help.

Here's how it usually goes:

Ask for gear for your birthdays...
Get paper routes or pump gas and save the dough....
Ask other dudes in bands if they have shit to sell, then ask your folks for the money...
Find a jam room with another band that has gear, then pay 'em to borrow theirs...'
Hold up the local 7 - 11...
Or the local L & M...
Go to gigs with country or soft rock bands and wait until they're busy scamming after to notice you walking out the front door with their brand new rented shit...
Somehow get some cash saved up (grandparents, uncles, etc..) then throw an ad up on here or somewhere else...
Build the shit yerself...
Last but not least - Steal it from your school band room...(this is how many a punk band got their start).

GOOD LUCK GENTLEMEN.... - Mon, 21 Apr 2003 1:25pm
Anonymous Get a paper route! Work for it, most people do! - Mon, 21 Apr 2003 1:27pm

Oh yeah - the 'ol Jay Brown gear acquirement technique. Wait on the street somewhere for some skinny little punk walking down the street with his guitar/amp/etc...Boot said kid in the groinal area, grab his shit and run like the wind. Circa 1981. - Mon, 21 Apr 2003 1:31pm

Hmmm... I'm likin the school band room idea... they have a huge PA system, and like 20 extra mics that they never use, and like 10 old speakers.... I do have a paper route, but that gives me jsut enough cash to feed all my reptiles and tarantula, mantises, etc. (sorry, I like that kinda crap :D)
Yeah.
Thanks a ton! - Mon, 21 Apr 2003 1:35pm

By the way kid - don't do any of the illegal shit. That wasn't me telling you to do that. You never saw that. I didn't write that. It never happened. - Mon, 21 Apr 2003 1:38pm

Yer in Ladysmith aren't you kid? Weren't you in Skinflint last year? Hmmm..... - Mon, 21 Apr 2003 1:46pm
Anonymous I know a guy, went to L and M, circa late 80's, checked the bus schedule ahead of time, grabbed a Peavey amp and walked right out the door with it, jumped on the bus and off he went. Too bad he chose Peavey. - Mon, 21 Apr 2003 2:41pm
Anonymous I say, you feed the mantises to the tarantula, feed the tarantula to the reptiles, then cook up the reptiles in a nice tasty Gumbo ( add some rice, spice and veggies ) then use all your left over money to buy gear. - Mon, 21 Apr 2003 2:44pm
Advice Queen Ever been to Beacon Hill Park? rememebr where the giant totem pole used to be? head down there after 11pm. You'll make some money. Cutie pie. - Mon, 21 Apr 2003 2:46pm

Yeah... No, I'm not from Ladysmith, and you probably don't know me... I am from Langford, and (excluding some guy who I just saw with one a few days ago) I think i'm one of the only people with a mohawk in all of langford (thats ever outside during daylight). I'm lettin it grow out now, so its lookin kinda shitty on the sides... but yeah.

Anonymous 68 grand? Small potatoes, chump. But if it makes you feel better putting someone else down with your measly five figured salary, I guess it's cheaper for ya than therapy. - Mon, 21 Apr 2003 8:48pm
