Justin Hagberg | Let YOU know our stance? How can we when you don't leave a name or any contact information? Myself and Allfather are outraged, and insulted to be labeled a racist band. It's a shame to have to explain our stance to the local scene we're supported, and have taken part in throughout the years. But to have to explain ourselves to an anonymous messageboard nerd like you is ridiculous. If you're going to make (false) accusations, at least represent your accusations honourably by leaving your name. I'd respect that a lot more. To the rest of you who might think we're a racist band, we're not. This isn't the first time we've had to clarify to people we're not a racist band, and if you're familiar with the (Heathen) black metal scene, it probably won't be the last time either. We take offense to statements like that. Accusing a band of being racist is a very strong accusation. Before making an accusation like that, you should find out the facts and what the band really represents before you jump the gun. But that's exactly what this messageboard is all about, isn't it? Blowing things WAY out of proportions? I remember just over a year ago, people on this board accused the Vancouver band Goatsblood of being a racist band because a friend of theirs who was at the show supported a Screwdriver patch on his jacket. And it wasn't until one of the members of Goatsblood had to post a message on Live Victoria to clarify that they weren't a racist band before you could stop accusing them. Sounds like a familiar story. People may be misunderstood with what we write about. A lot of our ideological influences are taken from Heathen mythologies: war, honour, ancestral pride, blood and soil, etc. We are proud of our Heathen culture, which is why we represent it in our music. We don't condone other cultures, races, etc. Everyone should be proud of their family history, the accomplishments of their ancestors, etc. If you care to get in touch with myself and Allfather, have any questions, comments, etc. you can at: [email protected] - Tue, 22 Apr 2003 12:33pm
Anonymous | Allfather, white supremacists?you guys have too much fucking time on your hands, i suppose youve had in depth conversations with each of the members of the band, thats a bold statement...loser... - Tue, 22 Apr 2003 10:53pm
Lordpatch User Info... | Allfather are simply pure metal the way it's suppose to be done. They are not racist or supremacist but they are a band that should be heard. We shouldn't let the few, yet vocal, hateful noise merchants take over our overstanding and love of a music which is the post modern classical sonic force for the working -class and all peoples who love arrangements, complex lyricism and passion at a loud volume. We also should not confuse Nordic and Germanic cultures and it's contemepory musical expression, within the genre of metal, with backwoods narrow minded bigots who soon fade away from the scene once the exploitaion level has ceased to have any effect. Nordic /Germanic culture, history and mythology existed before the National Front, Nazi Party, Reform Party, George "Hawthorn" Burdie, the Klan and the Neo-Nazi party ever decided to go on a pimping campaign to destroy the arts, peoples and their signifiers with hate, division and twisted ideologies. Allfather brings metal back to the people of all races and ethinicites for the perfect joy of it. Allfather are one of the hopes of Metal. Allfather compose complex Blackmetal with all the passion and intellgence it rightly deserves. Hail (in the Viking sense of the salute) Your Sword is your spine. Your Hammer your heart. - Wed, 23 Apr 2003 12:21am
Anonymous | Allfather guy- You said "We don't condone other cultures, races, etc." Did you mean "We don't condemn other cultures, races, etc."? Condone means "agree with" - Wed, 23 Apr 2003 12:27am
stankass | That Goatsblood thing is understandable. If you wear a patch of a band who is sXe, people might conclude that you're sXe. I think that's a legit conclusion. I had a similar argument with a friend a while ago. he was wearing a swastika patch on his jacket. I didn't really feel comfortable with it, so I asked him what was up with it. He said he was wearing it because it was his grandpa's who fought against the Nazi's. His grandpa had torn it off some Nazi guy's military duds that he'd killed. He was proud of his grandpa; therefore, he wore the patch. Maybe I'm totally ignorant, but I think it's inappropriate to wear a swastika if you're not a Nazi and have people think you're not a Nazi. Anyhow, people jump the gun, and for the Skrewdriver bit, I think that's pretty understandable. If a person sports a patch of a Nazi band, that says that that person agrees with what the band has to say. It represents that person's beliefs, like it or not. - Wed, 23 Apr 2003 12:40am
Lordpatch User Info... | Stankass, All your arguments are on point. ...and the Nazi patch thing is bit off. But you did demonstrate that we have to respect signifiers and referents of things, people and music. In order to do that we have to do the unthinkable in todays fear based world of labels and profiling; that would be to speak with each other, discuss things in order to uncover the meaning behind peoples, languages and modes of expressions. It's not a bad thing when people thought that Allfather were racist and felt offended. It's only a bad thing if this band never gets heard by the people who live on the same island they create music on and for. All for this for the sad the reason that people misinterpreted the hordes' purpose within thier music and style; also the culture which they feel most comfortable expressing themselves in which is not a racist one but one of mythology and heroic sound. - Wed, 23 Apr 2003 12:51am
