Dr.LOAD If you like metal, you should take a minute to listen to the latest offering from Children of Bodom, "Hate Crew Deathroll". All and all I found it to be a well rounded album with great riffs and a hard-hitting energetic feel. Anyway, I am interest to hear what other people think of it so please feel free to post positive or negative reviews and keep the music heavy and intricate.

Sounds cool, I'll check 'em out. I just discovered this NYHC band called SWORN ENEMY the other day and that's the shit right there. Gonna try to get their cd somewhere's. Maybe I should rip it! Hahaha... - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 11:20am
Jedi This is old school power metal, pre Sinergy. This is like a time warp as Victoria musicians are coming out of the late 70's early 80's punk stages. - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 1:34pm
Brad hey man, some of this bodom music sounds alot like Gerod Staaf - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 1:41pm
Jedi Is there anybody out there wanting to play this style of metal? - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 1:46pm

ML7Mike I got into their last album, and they are talented, but after awhile I got really sick of all the happy loud keyboards. - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 2:17pm
Anonymous hey jedi.Is this what you play? - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 2:20pm
Jedi I dont play covers of this band but I can play and write progressive power metal music, which is what I call it. Progressive/symphonic or whatever. I changed the name of it many times over the past 19 months trying to get a band together in Vic. Either it wasnt known or there was no interest beyond the local punk/metal scene. Not sure what happened. It's cool though cause I play other stuff as well. I really like that ML7 video!! - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 3:22pm
Anonymous I am confused. Are you calling Children Of Bodom prog power metal? If you are, you need to seriously reevalute your genres. - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 5:06pm
Jedi What is it called? - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 6:10pm
Jedi Stratovarious, Malmsteen, Dragon Force, etc. I thought are all prog power metal. Anything progressive in theory and technique and heavy sounding. Although vocals vary within these bands from sweet to scream. Pantera and megadeth I would call power metal as most of their music isnt as progressive in theory. The two together is what I would like to play. - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 6:17pm
Dr.LOAD Yeah, the keyboards can get to you, though I must say that they have been greatly toned down on this album compared to "Follow The Reaper" (which was also a great album).Good call Ross Bay, Sworn Enemy are most definately wicked. Hey Jedi, How long have you been playing and do you have any other musicians on board? - Sun, 13 Apr 2003 7:20pm
Anonymous Sworn Enemy are good. Childrem Of Bodom are significantly better, Children Of Bodom are melodic death metal. Difficult, I think not. - Mon, 14 Apr 2003 12:59am
Jedi Ok so it's melodic metal I like to play. It doesnt matter if it's death or life as long as it's melodic. Challenging rhythms add to the fun.
Been playing over 8 years. - Mon, 14 Apr 2003 1:29am
Jedi No complete projects. Never seem to get a full lineup. Getting closer all the time. - Mon, 14 Apr 2003 1:33am
beazlbub if ya like death metal try blood red throne i was lucky enough to get my hands on two of their cds (affiliated with the suffering, and a taste for blood )(thanks to james at lyles place hes good when it comes to metal)both cds have wicked mucicianship also another good one is a brazilian band called headhunter dc im not too good at definitions of certain styles but i know what sounds good and they r killer, anyways have a good one (b) - Mon, 14 Apr 2003 9:59am
Dr.LOAD Thanks for the info man, will start to track those down right away. For another great Deathmetal band that plays more than a few powerchords *cough Six Feet Under cough* check out the Forsaken's album "Manifest of Hate", it's been in my player for the last two months now and I'm still loving every second of it. Cheers and thanks for the cool replies, keep the suggestions comming 'cause the world needs MORE METAL! - Mon, 14 Apr 2003 1:41pm
Jedi What bands would you call melodic speed metal?

Death metal vocals are so hard to understand, my singer says maybe they are really singing praise God lyrics lol

how many genres of metal are there? - Mon, 14 Apr 2003 1:55pm
Anonymous Genre naming is easy for metal. If a band is melodic, and they are death, and they are metal you call them melodic death metal. If a band is speedy, and they are thrash, and they are metal, you call them speed thrash metal. If a band is spooky, or hard, or any other name, and they suck too bad to be called metal, call them hardcore, or spookycore, or grindcore, etc. The only exception is metallica who were thrash metal but are now referred to as 'soldout'. Although this term is also self explanitory.
By the way, I am talking out of my ass. - Mon, 14 Apr 2003 2:58pm

Anonymous METAL!!!!! yeah. - Mon, 14 Apr 2003 8:25pm
cine fletsch Great band! I remember when the singer was the lead guitar player for Sinergy. His guitar playing was more agressive then. - Mon, 14 Apr 2003 9:03pm
