Message Board > General Chitchat > Commuting - Living outside Victoria |
Inhalien User Info... | Anyone commute from up (the) island daily or weekly to Victoria? I'm thinking about moving to the Mill Bay area and I'll have to find a new job eventually but wondering what your thoughts are. I hear the commute is getting longer. Transit may have a bus soon. I never thought I'd be the type but I really think I need to get out of this town now. I've lived in Victoria my whole life (except for a brief TO stay) so I'm kind of freaked out. - Fri, 23 May 2008 8:32pm
sumyungai User Info... | Luckily I live in Vic and work up Island, so I'm kinda the anti- commuter. From what I've seen over the last couple of years there's no question that the situation will continue to worsen. I had hoped that the new interchange at Spencer Rd. would mean the removal of the lights there, but instead they've installed another set of lights up at Goldstream Ave. I laugh my ass off at the line ups I blow past every morning and afternoon, although it is getting harder to get back into town in the afternoon. Where the hell is everybody going, anyway? I do have a friend who commutes from Youbou to VGH, but she works three 12 hour shifts on, and four days off. Under those circumstances it may be worth commuting, but daily? Not a chance. - Fri, 23 May 2008 9:00pm
laprider User Info... | well, I have a place in Youbou, my chill shack by the lake! It is about an hour and a half in slow traffic. I wouldn't really want to do it everyday, but I'm no 9-5 guy. The trade of of my place here verse my place in the North park area well there is no comparison...Youbou is paradise, soon I will live here full time. Its sure nice to come home from a tour and chill in a town of 700 or so! - Sat, 24 May 2008 2:44pm
