Anonymous | ska is funny...the skatalites are a bunch of old men (and women) who were good when they were young...40 years ago! that makes them really really old and really really lame at this point. - Wed, 26 Mar 2003 1:40am
Anonymous | They're actually better than ever. Have you listened to their recent performance at the Womad Festival? They sound awesome! Check out http://www.skatalites.com and then click on About (news). Then click on the live BBC recording at the Womad festival. Anyone that's into ska, jazz, Latin, reggae, rocksteady or dancehall would appreciate that set. They wouldn't be getting booking all over the world just on their name alone. - Trust me. - Promoters, clubs, festival organizer and the House of Blues would see right through them. Name only goes so far. - Wed, 26 Mar 2003 3:47am
Anonymous | http://www.skanews.net also has some nice interviews with the late Tommy McCook and Lloyd Brevvett, one of the best (if not the best) reggae bass players in Jamaica yesterday and today. - Wed, 26 Mar 2003 3:52am
Troutbreath | "a bunch of old men" According to some people I'm too old to play music. I guess I'd better go find a sweater vest, put on some bedroom slippers and shuffle around Oak Bay Village with the rest of the old poops. (sigh) Metamucil anyone? - Wed, 26 Mar 2003 11:34am
Bong | Fuck the old men thing..If they groove even 1/2 as much as they did at 25 they will still be one of the hottest acts to play this little berg in 03! This is an opportunity to see musical history kids....this band has inspired so many musicians and musical styles that to list them would take a day... I say take this opportunity to learn about the roots of modern music and you will better understand the music you play. Check it out ya punks! Sticky Kola - Wed, 26 Mar 2003 11:56am
