Mr. Hell User Info... | I was lying down watching a movie when I heard the fireworks start up in the Inner Harbour. I didn't go down there this year like most years because I dislike large crowds (most humans are unsanitary disgusting walking cesspools) and I am always disappointed in the display of gunpowder. As they started going off, I noticed it was 9:55pm and I was thinking it may have been nice to go see them this year. I heard some loud ones going off and was momentarily glum for missing out. Then not even two minutes later the noise stopped. Victoria has a two minute fireworks display to celebrate our stat holidays. Why not just have a guy stand on the barge with three sparklers? At least it would cost thousands less and bring the same amount of joy to the citizens of this corpse-like city. Pathetic. Hope everyone enjoyed the miniscule show. - Mon, 6 Aug 2007 12:36am Edited: Mon, 6 Aug 2007 12:39am
XY-LAWLx User Info... | Pathetic and lame yes. But lets be fair, all the rich old people who are moving here need to get their Z’s, and the fireworks might freak out their yappy mult-poo’s who may need counselling after the horrific situation they were subjected too. LOL! But here‘s the kicker, you just wait for next years ban on Halloween fireworks comes into effect, soon it will be Trick or treating rules 1. Every rule that Ontario has for fireworks be implemented immediately .( Standard restriction on anything that might harm us or hamper retirement benefits) 2. NO knocking after 6:00pm, no noise after 10 pm. (To be subject to random times pulled out of law enforcements butts ) 3. Only hermetically sealed candy. ( candy bags should be checked for razor blades and poisons that may be harmful ) 4. NO inappropriate costumes or involving the occult or M&M characters . Pirate costumes subject to pre approval. 5. You WILL be ticketed if you use anything but a CSA approved jack off lantern with a 40w bulb. 6. No children 4 and under . 7 No children 9 and up. 8 Must be accompanied by no less then TWO inebriated parents . 9. NO double dipping , or re-costuming (and I know who you are piggly wiggly) And last but not least, 10. NO TRICKS!! And remember ,only your complaining about everything makes our city stronger! - Mon, 6 Aug 2007 4:22am
DeadYeti1 User Info... | I really didn't think that it was that bad! I watched with some family from the lagoon and it was alright. A little short, but pretty good. What I thought was cool was the lightning that was happening in the background before, and as the fireworks were going off. Mother Nature competing with us? I asked this guy, he said he'd bring out the sparklers next year - Mon, 6 Aug 2007 11:09am
Chopper User Info... | Some cheese with that whine? - Mon, 6 Aug 2007 11:13am
Mr. Hell User Info... | No whining here. I didn't go because of the anticipation of lameness. I do enjoy sour grapes once in a while though. - Mon, 6 Aug 2007 12:32pm

Aidan Logins User Info... | Without fireworks kids will just go around smashing shit. I know I will. And I don't even do the firework thing, but I'll be pretty pissed if no one else is. - Mon, 6 Aug 2007 2:01pm
Tyler User Info... | why do fireworks need to last a long time? this isn't freaking disneyland - Tue, 7 Aug 2007 1:38pm
Hang the DJ User Info... | I was too far away and way too drunk. I didn't know the fireworks were happening and started freaking out thinking it was thunder and lighting or some rather angry god. - Tue, 7 Aug 2007 2:03pm
Mr. Hell User Info... | They don't need to last for hours. But I think two minutes is pointless when you consider all the hassle of getting down there, finding parking, walking ten blocks to find a spot to sit for two minutes, then wonder why they are over after 14 blasts and trudge back to the car and fight traffic jam for 45 minutes. Obviously we don't live in Disneyland. - Wed, 8 Aug 2007 6:39am
sue User Info... | The fireworks weren't to celebrate our stat holiday but were part of symphony splash. You want fireworks to celebrate a stat...?....that's what the Canada Day ones were. Just my 2 cents. - Wed, 8 Aug 2007 6:48am
Tyler User Info... | as was mentioned, I think the fireworks were part of the end of symphony splash, since they were coordinated with the last part of the 1812 overture. so the whole point of coming downtown was for symphony splash, not the fireworks. - Wed, 8 Aug 2007 4:54pm
Mr. Hell User Info... | Point taken. Stat fireworks in Victoria are still painfully lame. I stand by all my comments. How was the Symphony? They play any Henryk Gorecki numbers? Or was it all that mainstream trash from Beethoven et al that everyone has heard a billion times? (That is sarcasm in case anyone missed it.) - Wed, 8 Aug 2007 10:05pm Edited: Wed, 8 Aug 2007 10:06pm
