Well my Mom likes watching idol and I was raiding her fridge and caught Liam....Good Job my man.
Now, Me personally, I'm not into the whole Idol thing, but it is a viable part of the biz sadly now.
Lets face it Liam is gonna have the last laugh. While winning idol is probably a death sentence on your career, being runner up seems not too bad. Just look to the band hedley, if he hadn't been on idol you would have never heard of them.
I wish you the best Liam, it just helps Vic's scene a little more. - Wed, 27 Jun 2007 12:56pm

All I have to say is Liam you were the best on the show!

He was the only one that was consistantly on key!

Candian Idol sucks and people don't know good singing when they hear it. - Wed, 11 Jul 2007 10:13pm

I thought Liam was the best one out there... I couldn't believe it when he did not go on. I had never watched Idol until Liam made the show and was surprised how terrible the singers were and how mickey mouse the judges are.

Some of the folks on that show are plain terrible and to have the judgeses pussy-foot around the critiques... yikes. Those kids are in for a surprise when it comes time to head out into the real world for work.

Liam, you were the best one out there mang! - Thu, 12 Jul 2007 6:06pm

I sense good things coming from Liam in the future (I just saw about him on the Ch. 6 news). I don't watch Canadian Idol, but they mentioned he was a contestant (?!?), nice to see some talent is being recognized coming from Victoria (well, other then Nelly Furtado and HotHotHeat). Hopefully he'll be in a band within 2 years?!? I dunno... he'd make a good front man. - Sat, 14 Jul 2007 12:06am Edited: Sat, 14 Jul 2007 12:07am

He already was a front man and he could easily be in many bands tomorrow if not sooner; This whole topic title mentions one: TAWG, and it was discussed within....

Griphin, I know you have lots of reasons, but I am beginning to suspect that it's not that you *Can't* read, but you just *Don't* read before posting.

Sorry, but this entire thread is not very long, and it is obvious that Liam was in at least one band prior to now. - Sat, 14 Jul 2007 12:59am Edited: Sat, 14 Jul 2007 1:10am

Good point (I actually skimmed thru the message actually), I actually posted this into another message before I noticed this thread. OK, so if he's in a band, why is it that a lot of people don't know about it then? (well perhaps they do, I'm not paying attention to the trendy stuff.) If Liam plays it right, I'll hopefully hear about Tawg.

People are allowed to give out positive feedback without reading the message, right? - Sat, 14 Jul 2007 1:34am

I know what youre saying. It was only that the topic title actually mentioned where he was from. The point is, he never needed 2 years to enter a band; It simply doesn't take that long.

lonemonk your right, it doesn't take 2 years or any numerical value; it takes patience. I understand what griph. is sayin' in that hopfully within the next couple years he finds a stable band that suits HIS style. Personally, I think Liam could find a better genre to fill with his vocals than that of the pop/punk world; where kat's like him are a dime a dozen(not speaking talent wise!). Nevertheless; it was a good run at the idol! and I dont doubt that music is in his future.... but patience is key!~) - Sat, 14 Jul 2007 1:38pm

Obviously there's plenty of talent there.

But with a voice that commercial, I've no doubt plenty of people will try to drag this kid into tons of stuff that tries to make up for in style and hype what it lacks in substance and artistic vision.

If his musical sensibilities don't suffer too many blows because of it, then he might emerge with some truly worthwhile songs to sing.

If not, then he'll be another very talented face in a very large crowd of talented but derivative musicians. - Sun, 15 Jul 2007 1:53am Edited: Sun, 15 Jul 2007 1:53am

I remember seeing Liam at one of Tawg's first shows (all ages at the VEC) and even then I thought that he had some amazing talent as a vocalist (what was he at the time 15???)

I think the thing to remember re: the band he chooses to play in, is that generally, if you're doing things yourself, you will be more successful if you are passionate about what you do. If that's where his passion is, he should stick with it.

Like Laprider said, winning is not necessarily a good thing (paraphrased). At least now he's had some publicity- created some buzz - and can go back to what he was doing (without having to do the whole canadian idol cookie-cutter crap),

I say kudos... good career move... and congrats! - Wed, 18 Jul 2007 10:10pm
