| backstreet girl User Info... | okay....my fiance moved down here a while ago, and although we share some similar tastes in music he likes the metal, which i know little about...he likes mastodon, cradle of filth, lamb of god, slayer, atreyu and such. my question is, what are similar sounding bands in the local scene?(not to discredit the individual sounds of our local bands!) i get a bit mixed up and would like some names to look out for or web pages....he comes home form camp and i drag him out to gigs that i like and would love to get him into some stuff from here! i certainly enjoy metal also, just not sure what to look out for! any input appreciated! thanks! - Fri, 20 Apr 2007 9:37am | ||

One easy way to look though acts is as some people have mentioned try the "bands" section and browse from there, and when you find a band you like, look at their past shows and see what acts they have played with. So look up Desensitized for instance and you can see some of the other acts they've played with: Horde Of Anachron, SELF INFLICTED, Enchanted Faeries, Kincaide, Seasons Of Sorrow, Mitochondrion, etc are all local bands listed. Then you can look at thoes bands and see who they have played with. There's some good metal shows May 25-27th weekend 25th @ Sugar - Cancer Bats, Bleeding Through, The End, Riskey Business (more hardcore/metal) 26th @ Sugar - Martyr, Neuraxis, Musselheim, Gross Misconduct (more tech death metal) 27th @ Logans - Toxic Hollocaust and some other good local bands hope that helps - Sat, 21 Apr 2007 8:25pm | ||

| Mutilashawn User Info... | Miasma is a one man project so she's not going to be able to catch them(him) live. Great band nonetheless! Come out to the shows in May for sure. Toxic Holocaust is probably the closest thing to Slayer so do come to that (shameless plug).
