cheeber rocket holy shit this board is like a gerriatric unit. Any ways, my friends always marvel at my varried tastes in bands. So I'm thinking "am I the only guy who listens to more than two styles of music?"

So I want to know how broad of a listening spectrum people have. slayer to mozart? johny cash to johny rotten. lets here it!! - Sat, 5 Oct 2002 10:21pm
RAZOR i only listen to westside connection. - Sat, 5 Oct 2002 10:37pm
sleez-e most people think they are open minded, but they are not. metal fans and musicians, blues people, everyone...they all think they are cool w/ everything, but they still have this fucking knee jerk reaction to anything that's not them. i wish they would just say "O.k I am a fucking tool."
sleez-e - Sun, 6 Oct 2002 1:36am
more truth i was thinking the same thing as i clicked on the live victoria bookmark.
it's hard to discuss almost anytype of music here with out someone slandering you.with the exception of punk.
just as i clicked on the bookmark i thought ' why do i bother coming here it never really seems to change, and these people don't even like my kind of music. its always so punk.'
you know that is cool. this website excists but it doesn't connect with all genres.
the biggest question is what the hell are punks doing on computers ..... history would tell me that is antipunk, how the world has changed since the early days of punk.
what can i say for me? i will be back tomorow, like every other day. - Sun, 6 Oct 2002 3:17am

yea, it's hard to talk about some different kinds of music here. it's hard to speak your mind almost anywhere without someone coming down on your point of view. i'm in a band now where we don't share the same taste in music, a lot of similarities but they think a lot of the music I listen to is shit and to some degree the feeling is mutual. it comes back to closed mindedness and the will to try to like as opposed to trying to dislike which is much easier. and that trandscends the image you portray or the money in your pocket or any other materialistic bull shit, it's part of ones character. most people are affraid of change even though they say they crave adventure. i guess it's easy to get caught up with that and lose sight of what's important, too.
fuck. i like to think that things like taste in music and clothes don't matter but it really makes you wonder.

i like music that comes from the heart. all the fakers can go fuck themselves. - Sun, 6 Oct 2002 3:39am

Well! That's 3 messages in a row that aren't slandering and are thoughtful.... that's pretty good for this site! I'd have to say I'm in agreement with all of you.... I think most people I've asked say "Oh, I listen to everything but country and rap"... but then Radiohead or something sits in their cd player for 4 months straight. So no they don't listen to everything, but perhaps they are aware of the other genres, and have respect for them, but those blues and folk-rock albums just don't turn their crank like Radiohead does... that's what I think is going on, anyway. If I ask myself that question now... 'What do I listen to?', I come up with Progressive rock, and folky-type stuff... which is generally true, but it's probably been a couple weeks since I listened to any folk.... I think the most important thing is to have respect for other genres, and not try to come off as some musical renaissance person when someone asks what you listen to... - Sun, 6 Oct 2002 4:19am

Bah, speak your mind and screw the flaming morons here.

Personally I love quite a bit of non punk shite. Old 80's goth (Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Revolting Cocks, EARLY Ministry etc), Metal/Thrash (Rainbow Butt Monkeys, Monster Voodoo Machine etc) and even some MOR shit (New Order (old and new), The Smiths, The Cure , etc).

Speak your mind and talk about whatever you want, it's easy to not read someone elses bullshit :) - Sun, 6 Oct 2002 4:55am
kirk Well I listen to somewhat of a variety of music from NILE to Loreena Mckennitt
Even some eastern jazz Rabih Abou-Khalil (Blue Camel) I Also like Canadian bands
Such as Rush, NoMeanNo, SYL, Head Stones, Cryptopsy. And yes I am close-minded when it comes to Rap& Country. - Sun, 6 Oct 2002 11:28am
cheeber rocket Sounds like most of you have some sort of persecution syndrome. Did you get mocked by some punk rocker and you were actually stupid enough to care? All I wanted to know was what different styles of music you enjoy, not read thru
speeches about sounding like a "musical renaissance person" or diatribes that end with "fakers can go fuck themselves". PC's should be equiped with some electric shock device that zaps you when ever you go off topic on message boards. And sleez e, I don't know what the fuck your point was. - Sun, 6 Oct 2002 1:28pm
more truth i currently listening a ton of rap, some new metal, lots of classic eighties metal( KISW eighties rock weekend yha!)
eventhough i'm in a moden rock band , i don't listen to the zone anymore its so boring. like most modern rock.its like my band but some days i wish the fuck we would crank the guitars and bring in a DJ and do some rap metal just for fun.

Sleez-e TO ALL YOU "TRUE" ASSHOLES YOU MAKE ME FEEL BAD FOR ENJOYING "TRENDY" CRADLE OF FILTH ETC....
FUCK YOU. Most of these pricks were jamming to Korn 4 yrs ago, then heard black metal and acted like they were there from the start. FUCK YOU!!! 98% of you fucking tools are truly the most insecure, foolish children I have ever met. You are closet COF, Manson fans who have no balls to admit you like their material so you put down those who are a little more honest. Everytime time I see one of you fucking idiot "true" metal heads, it makes me sick...with your pouting, pompous looks, fuck you. sideways glances etc...singing along with Priest and Maden like you "remember the old times"....hahahhahah!!!!! Your good old times was preschool, while Atheist and these bands were doing there thing. Next time i hear you say "oh that's not cool that's trendy, that's not "true" I am "true"...AHAHAH!
you are truly a bunch of fucking tools. thanks. - Sun, 6 Oct 2002 4:30pm

Ahaha, CoF are hilarious(just saying, not slamming, though they are so not my thing, Dani Filth makes me want to hurt short people). I dunno, I like music from just about every genre. Just liking metal would be absurd and closed minded. However, it is my main choice...
I like....
Nile
Opeth
At The Gates
Emperor(earlier)
Carcass
Aborted
Katatonia
Exhumed(GORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Getto Boys(it's all about the song Chucky)
Grave Digga's
Black Eyed Peas
Jurassic 5
EZE
ODB
Wide Mouth Mason
The Hip
Rush
The Doors
Big Wreck
Diana Krall
Miles Davis
Coltrain
AFI
Lag Wagon
The Vandals

The list could be better, but I can never think in these situations...

And if you don't like it, why the fuck should I care, it's all just personal preferance. - Sun, 6 Oct 2002 9:32pm

this should be about bands you dont like, thats more fun. i dont like mxpx either. or that grave diggas, they suck. i also dont like drum and bass, that stuff annoys me. or top 40. and yeah, most country cept maybe a couple people. and yeah, rap can suck a nut with people like m&m, nelly, nas and all the other bling bling singing about yourself and how cool you are without any real message rappers. fuckers. i saw india arie on snl once, she was cool. i have a hard time listening to music without a message or opinion aka just filler personally. - Mon, 7 Oct 2002 12:38pm
