| jay brown User Info... | o.k. heres one that fucking infuriated me, and I am sure impressed my landlord to no end when he had to clean up. We have had a homeless guy sleeping under the front stairs every once in a while recently. No biggie right? We all gotta do our part even if it is so little as to just let a guy have a dry spot out of the snow. Well we came home a couple nights ago and he has taken to shitting under there too. | conga User Info... | I know what you mean , i just walked past avi (aids vancouver island) and holy fuck , there were people tweaking out in the middle of the road, i witnessed a young girl shooting up right outside avi and about 25 wasters milling about. The block is covered in those blue water thingys and needle wrappers. I know there is a need for the needle exchange but fuck , the other day someone asked me what i needed while walking by. Allowing homeless to sleep in your car isnt really helping, and it is putting yourself in harms way. Lower East smells like a cocktail of urine, crack smoke, feces and vomit. No thank you. Trippy today, I was walking across to the ministry of Finance Building towards (across from the Court House), the court yard and Library,NDP MP Denise Savoie's (Formerly Retired- Liberal MP David Anderson's) Office. I hear from around the corner from Denise Savoie's Office, "Help! Stop! Thief!!" (Kid jumps down the Stairs with what- looks like a purse - then jumps over a wall into the overhead Parking lot behind the MP's Office), the voice getting louder "Stop that Man!! Stop HIM!!!" This stupid junkie is looking at me like he's going to get me to chase this guy (both of these guys look around 20 years old, the 'Thief' looks in good fitness 'not of a drug user' like the guy he ripped off. As I'm watching and seeing another one of the victim's friends/hobo's is looking at me to go after them.. I'm like, "What does he have of yours?" I asked. "He stole my PS2! Stop him!" I say, "Uh, no go get it yourself, I've got nothing to with this.."( I start walking away- Just as briefly- I momentarily stop again- to tell to let them know the culprit is still with in close range. "He just went that way over the wall into the parking lot, if one of you goes around the otherside- and You head off the parking lot- you'll find him." Both seemed- by this point- 'not interested', or tired- or both, them probably expecting me to go after this person..? Fuck that noise?! PS2!? WTF do I look like? Maybe, I'd've run after the person if they were, a woman who'd been robbed or some elderly person, or somebody else saying 'he just stole my entire banking receipts for this week, please stop him!' But some stupid idiot looking junkie complaining about his 'PS2', you know I think they should turn this NDP Lady's office into a 'Safe Injection Site.' Vic PD estimate the number of homeless on any given night to be about 350 and those not in beds generally choose to not be in beds for a variety of reason. Unfortunate that he wasn't around to have his face smeared in it. Is there not a needle exchange on Cormorant St. beside the Ministry Of Health building? Needle exchange or not, the 'irresponsible' junkies will leave their used shit wherever they feel like. I see it all the time at my job. Those syringes should be force fed back to them without the aid of a beverage. I am always tempted to get some smoke butts and stick firecrackers in them and leave them around the areas where these fuckholes frequent. If anyone wants to steal my idea, feel free! | NOISE NOT BOMBS User Info... | the estimates I produced were the officail numbers collected by the census on homelessness, and they estimate it to be double by the time of this years counts due to vancouver closing single occupancy houses and hotels, as well as trying to push the homeless out of van with increased policing. so expect a lot fucking more in the future. "homelessness is not my problem" Allan Lowe even if your numbers from the cops were correct (which they are not, nor are they the accepted stats) they would still be double the ammount of available shelter beds in the city. As well many people won't sleep in shelters cause they are so full of drug abuse, filth and violence, and have a fucking stupid system (eg, salvation army you must check in at 5am, return at 7pm, to see if you were excepted, and be in by 9pm, you are woken up at 7am, and are given 7 days before you are kicked out again, streetling is verry similar). - Wed, 24 Jan 2007 10:21am | ||

Get it straight, 'homelessness' is not a constant realm of being 'down on your luck' or being a 'junky'. All it takes is for the Police to make up some bullshit story up about you to your landlord- and they have you thrown out of your place of residence. (with no-arbitration hearing either to fend for yourself.) $30mm's? What $30 million dollars? The mayor is a greedy insecure man who jinxed the entire process for pledging a raise while the 'Crystal Garden' Investigation was being downplayed and swept under the carpet, then the storms rolled in, you know the $30 mm's coming from the fed's,that's supposed to be going to help in the clean up of the 'West Coast Trail' is actually in reality- only going to pay for the $10,000 - $25,000 wages increases for all Victoria City Hall Counselors' and the Mayor? They'll probably transfer the cleanup fund straight out of the pockets of the Provincial Coifer and have the rest of the Province pay for it.
