Don't worry, this topic isn't meant to blam TV - didn't turn out so well last time that happened =p

So, I've been out of high-school for a few years now, and i looking back, it seems like the education system is the source of so much bloody chaos.

Between the giant social barriers of money and personal appearance, there is now copious (spelled that wrong?) amounts of drug an alcohol abuse.

I don't know what it was like 15 years ago, but at the age of 12, i had hurled my guts out, smoked dubes and hash and was starting to approach the really icky stuff.

There was a group (as you can imagine) of about 30 of us who all started drinking and partying before we were 13. we got money from our parents to "go to a movie," some people stole money, it was fucked.

So now, I've read in the newspapers that there are kids doing crack, meth, X, mushrooms and all sorts of stuff that is definitely not being moderated.

Including TV, it's probably a good idea to have everything in moderation, including moderation.

So anyways, what-to-fucking-do about the school system?

Well for starters, maybe it would be a good idea to NOT ALLOW 12 YEAR OLDS SUPERVISE THEMSELVES. How? well, i got a few ideas, but i would rather hear what you guys have to say. I had this little plan worked out that if other people thought was decent could work.

Our city of greater Victoria could ask the Provincial and Federal Government for $15,000,000 which could be used to keep kids in school, not necessarily working on academic studies, but supervised.

Think about it, there's tons of TV's and Computers - for insane LAN parties - at the school, tons of sports and gaming equipment. Between all the middle and high schools in the city, there is Rockwalls, Buses, and tons of other resources that could be made use of.

I The way i thought it could happen would be if - and i know I'm going to get blammed to hell for this :

We made it so everything that every time money exchanged between a business and a consumer it was taxed %0.8 (that's less than a cent on every dollar) and that if we, the consumers, payed %0.7 on everything we bought, for a combined %0.15, we could ask for a giant sum of money on the day the less than 1% tax was initiated.

We spent over 3.87 BILLION dollars in victoria in 2005 alone. The average wage was over 350 a week; we're doing pretty good. So if we all chipped in less than $3 a month - which is the result of a bunch of number crunching that i wont bother to post out of fear of all you blammers :P - we could demand that the government give our public education system, in the CRD alone, over $12,000,000 bucks! This money could be used to keep the schools open, and our kids safe and supervised and give them more opportunity to become good, healthy individuals - until mom and dad were home from work at least.

You know how it is :
"whadoo you wana do"
"I dunno, there's nothing to do"
"lets go smoke some weed and destroy our brains for 3 hours until my parents come home"
"Sounds like a great plan"

Not that smokin up and playing some video games once in a while is EVIL or anything, but just like anything else, it should probably be moderated, just like anything in life.

Would this influence in the schools help? Are uniforms to fascist? is it worth it? would you be willing to pay $3 a month to insure that your child has the best, healthiest education possible?

Even if you are somone who has different ideas about substance use, im sure you would rather have it under your control in your own home than have your kid off somewhere in a potentially dangerous situation.

I fucking detest the way drugs are ruining our society. I mean a little weed here and there fine, but all this crack and meth has gotten out of control. It's not just kids. I know way too many adults with good jobs, perfect families, university degrees who have just flushed it all down the toilet. I thought we were all finished with that in the ninties but its back with a vengence.
I'm pissed, really, really pissed off. I don't know what to do. I don't know how or if I can help. I wish people had more respect for the life they have been given. Life is short and youth is even shorter. Young people should be having fun, gettin degrees, traveling, playing sports, having lots of sex. Not wasting away on a crack pipe.
All us older puckers should be thinking about our kids future and our retirement. If a person saves $100 per month starting at the age of 25, that person will have a million dollars at 65. I have a 34 year old "friend" who just cashed in his rrsp for crack money, his house will be next. Selfish prick. People think they can't afford $100 per month and then go out and buy an 8ball for one night.
My wife and I are planning a child, soon. I am very concerned about the choices that child will make. I am saving money so I can send that child to private school. They have drugs in private school too, but it is harder to get away with using.
We are richer than we think, and we can't handle it. People aren't good with math and they can't think long term. We have to save the children for they are the future. Don't count on our government to do it, even with some funky new tax. Save your own money for your own kids and give some to charity for kids whoose parents are crack heads. The Boys and Girls Club for example.
Well there is my vent. It could have been longer, I am just sooooooo mad. I've gone from being woried about friends, to sad, to confused, to ripped off and used, now I'm just mad.
