merman User Info... | so i'm trying to find someone who knows about cars to help me put in a new radiator. Anyone out there willing to help me? I'm not trying to get someone to do this for free either, I will pay you. I just want to learn how to do it, so thought i would try on here. I appreciate any help:) - Wed, 29 Nov 2006 4:17pm
jackass User Info... | just a suggestion...if you're going to do it yourself, be prepared to deal with the coolant. Don't let it get all over the street or anything, cuz animals love it and a very small amount will kill. As far as I know, all you need to do is drain the radiator you've got, undo the hoses and brackets, remove, drop the new one in, refill, run the engine for a little, then top it up with fluid if necessary. - Thu, 30 Nov 2006 5:44pm
Ward Ensemble User Info... | easy stuff, really. Have you got the new rad yet? I know a place for a good deal, and might have an hour to spare for you.. - Fri, 1 Dec 2006 12:30am
merman User Info... | no i don't have a new rad yet, and i'm not even quite sure where to get one lol, but i'm pretty sure that's easy enough. my car is weird---the engine in it now isn't the engine that it originally had - Fri, 1 Dec 2006 5:38am
JDL User Info... | what kind of car do you have? depending on the age, make etc... try scrap yards and shit like that... if all else fails, lordco. or canadian tire will be able to help ya. But those places will charge you thru the teeth for teh rad. and putting it in.(it cost me, for an old toyota supra, 800 all said and done... tho it was a performance part) - Fri, 1 Dec 2006 9:06am
Rubber Box User Info... | give me the year make and model and engine size and Ill get you a price for the rad... Oh ya air conditioned? - Fri, 1 Dec 2006 9:35am
JDL User Info... | hey box, do you work at a scrappers? cuz i have a car i need to get rid of, pontiac sunbird '89... everything is fine with is other than the head gasket is slightly cracked(which doesn't mean much b/c anything wrong with that dam gasket and its hooped).. but was wondering if and how much scrappers pay for such a piece? im asking 400$ cuz i did put a new rad, tires, brakes, and tuned it up right before i got the crack in the head. But if i get anything for it i'm willing lol you could look at it this way too: 400$ for new 14" tires/all seasons and it includes a car!! - Fri, 1 Dec 2006 1:57pm
Rubber Box User Info... | I work as a parts guy at a car dealership but I do know the bone yard doesnt like to pay for older cars. I could proably get my hands on a 2.0 liter sunbird head...rather notorious for cracking they are. - Fri, 1 Dec 2006 2:53pm
dumpstermesh User Info... | If you feel like a drive there is a scrapyard in Sooke on Sooke River Rd who gives decent deals. I always found them VERY helpful. I can't think of the name though. I think it's a three letter name like RCU or something. - Fri, 1 Dec 2006 3:06pm
