lonemonk User Info... | Isn't it interesting that established record companies are begging for submissions when for 20 years its been 'No unsolicited material' territory. I really hope those assholes are sincere. I really can't tell whether companies are seeing the writing on the wall (ie. NO physical media) or whether the TV model of American Idol is over-influencing their behaviour in the bad direction. ('Cause god knows, compared to 24 X 7 American Idol, I would rather Sony rule the world with an Iron Fist.) My honest estimation (probably wrong as hell), is the entire music industry as we know it will only become more convoluted and complicated by small/medium/big time artists. Also small/medium/big time distro companies will co-exist as well. If competition can be allowed to happen on SOME normal footing then it can't be all wrong. The only thing I HOPE comes out of this bad motherfucker, is that huge companies can't as easily prevent smaller organizations or artists from achieving success. (Ala Radio royalities, mega-budget videos and the politics of Payola). - Fri, 27 Oct 2006 9:58pm Edited: Sun, 29 Oct 2006 12:23pm | ||
