One does need to make certain sacrifices, and compromise within reason, but if one person in a relationship isn't willing to put in any effort then you quite simply don't have a relationship. If a guy wasn't willing to communicate with me, then I would doubt his own happiness with the situation as a whole, and act accordingly.
