STBP User Info... | I was at the Vancouver store last week (huge, stocked, awesome!) and saw a practice amp I wanted, at a pretty good price. Left it alone and shopped around a bit once I got back to Vic. L&M's sticker on the same item was 30% higher. I knew Tom Lee had recently taken over the old Dave's Keyboards store across from the arena. Called them up and asked if they could bring over what I wanted, and it was no trouble at all. Same price, no extra charge for the move. The local Tom Lee only has room to display pianos and keyboards, but it seems they're willing to please. They have ambition to expand in Victoria -- so they were naturally willing to do that for me, which I think is really cool. Nice to have another large retailer's presence in town. Just a little word of mouth for you all. - Fri, 21 Jul 2006 7:07pm
Mutilashawn User Info... | I can't wait to see some price wars happening. The monopoly of L&M must end. - Fri, 21 Jul 2006 11:29pm
lonemonk User Info... | I went to Tom Lee earlier this week as well. When I was walking up there it didn't dawn on me exactly what business had been taken over. When I got there it was obviously Daves with a different name. It doesn't look one bit different than it did last time I was there. (3 years ago) I do like spending a few minutes with a $90K Steinway Monopolies are almost never good, but I don't believe that L&M ever made it their policy to specifically gouge people; Victoria already has Tempo Trend, and all our 'Pawn Shops' for that. No matter what L&M is the bigger company and will not likely take competition sitting down, which may well mean more competitive pricing. - Sat, 22 Jul 2006 2:03am Edited: Sat, 22 Jul 2006 2:04am
